Ruqayyah | 951 comments The Caraval Trilogy helped me to write more descriptively and add to my imagery- recommend for fantasy readers looking for a twisty game, with a circus-esque aura too!

DoveyV | 311 comments oooh yes Caraval helped me a lot too. But also These Violent Delights with several things, one being how there were multiple languages within the book which I’ve always wanted to do but felt like it would be too much.

erin ♡ It is a children's book but House with Chicken Legs, really helped me form ideas and the Great Library series helped me in worldbuilding

Allie | 62 comments Margaret Rogerson's Vespertine made me think about what kind of main character I wanted because she had a very relatable strong female mc.

Ruqayyah | 951 comments Oh yes, even Elizabeth was like that too
I haven't read Vespertine yet though

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 22 comments It's actually some TV shows that have helped me with writing. Leverage and Burn Notice have taught me how to make sure to drop hints at things that show how certain could happen, even if the audience didn't catch it the first time.

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Kymela I love leverage! have you seen the new show? (also totally agree it’s so well written for something so episodic)

message 9: by Ruqayyah (new)

Ruqayyah | 951 comments That's very interesting!

Kymela (kymelatejasi) | 22 comments I have seen season 1 of Leverage: Redemption. I haven't seen season 2, yet. I'm liking it so far.

Reading on Wheels | 49 comments @Kymela Same. I'm sad that the Nate actor was creepy tho

I never heard anything about that, but I also don't pay much attention to behind the scenes stuff. D:

rae (jurdan's version) Definitely Caraval and Heartless helped with describing surroundings and magic ✨

Dracula helped with characterization, Alice in Wonderland helped with world-building, Agatha Christie helped to me to learn how to increase suspense, as well as make mystery/crime stories more unexpected, Shirley Jackson helped me to understand how to write more disturbing short stories, and a whole load of textbooks I've read for college classes...so...a lot lol :)
