Tracy (tstan) | 1261 comments I’m not mad at this list- I liked all of these books.
I’m surprised that Colony wasn’t there, but there were so many good books on the longlist.

Jen K | 3143 comments Exciting! I very much enjoyed Oh William! and Glory. I keep almost borrowing The Trees. I really do need to get to it. Two are just not available in any form at my library unfortunately.

Anita Pomerantz | 9288 comments Surprised not to see The Colony, but even more shocked that Maps of Our Spectacular Bodies wasn't on there.

On the flip side, I really had no expectation whatsover that Oh William! would make it to the shortlist even though I am a HUGE Strout fan. Personally, I think this is the worst of the four book series, but hey, she's a terrific writer, and I'm happy for any accolades she gets.

I've only read three of this shortlist (though I guessed 4/6 to be there), so more reading to do!

I hadn't read any except for Small Things Like These and I read that well before the longlist came out. I decided to wait until the shortlist came out to read any others, but I was so sure that The Colony would be on it that I bought it and will probably read it because I want to compare to Haven.

I've wanted to read The Trees, so glad it is on the list.

If you can get your hands on Treacle Walker, I'd love to hear your take- I think you'd appreciate it.

I've heard it compared to Lanny which I loved. That and The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida, I've been waiting to come out here.

Theresa | 15582 comments The Booker has been awarded!

The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida by Shehan Karunatilaka.

I picked up the hardcover and it awaits my attention in one of my TBR Towers. I hope to be blown away as I was by A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James, and have NOT been by any other Booker I have so far read, especially Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel. 😊
