tranc | 2 comments Hello,
it might be quite untypical, but... For some time I've been thinking about translating a book. It might be quite risky idea, looking at my amount of free time, but I really want to do it.

I don't have preferences if it should be novel or not. But it must, maximum have 50 thounsand words (as I don't want it to take more than a year). So here comes my question.

Have you, lately, read something that's really worth promoting, but isn't translated to Polish language yet (that's not hard, looking at our book market)? I would like to see a proposition of books from authors that I could get in touch with? As I don't want to break any intellectual property laws here.

I don't care about the topic really, but I must like the book.

I thought about Congo by David van Reybroucka, which is a really good book, but it's too long (260k words) and King Leopold Ghost by Hochshild is already published in Poland with great success, so it might be quite derivative.

Any ideas what book it might be? ;)

They do like to read about other countries (reportages about Russia, USA, Orient countries are very popular), they do like science fiction, especially youngsters and "web" users.

For me, the most important is that the book is good ;)

P.D. Workman (pdworkman) I was also going to suggest Babelcube, if you want to get your feet wet. I have books up for translation on Babelcube, but none of them are under 50,000 words.
