Bart Verdeyen (cafeaulivre on Youtube) I finally did it!

After more than five years, I seem to have found my lost love reading again.

After a severe burn-out and depression, I never could find the joy or the concentration again to read a proper book, it seemed. I read magazines instead, in short bursts, one or two articles at a time.

I hated it, because I had always been an absolute booknerd, yet I was physically unable to read unillustrated pages for more than a few minutes in one sitting.

In the end, it was an off-grid vacation that got me back into reading. I don't know if it was the calm (I was in the middle of nowhere in Sweden) or the necessity (I had brought no devices), but I read two paperbacks in ten days.

Once home again, I was determined to keep the momentum going and up til now, I did not only succeed, but restarted my account here and got into BookTok. My love for reading has been rekindled.

I don't write this post to have people applaud me or have piety, but because I know there are members here to have/are/will be experiencing similar shorter/longer reading slumps.

If this is you, I want you to know, it will pass. Don't hate yourself for it, but be kind to yourself instead. Take the time you need and all of a sudden, you will be reading again.
