Sixteen years ago the Kingdom of Winter was conquered and its citizens enslaved, leaving them without magic or a monarch. So when scouts discover the location of the ancient locket that can restore Winter’s magic, Meira decides to go after it herself. Finally, she’s scaling towers, fighting enemy soldiers, and serving her kingdom just as she’s always dreamed she would. But the mission doesn’t go as planned, and Meira soon finds herself thrust into a world of evil magic and dangerous politics – and ultimately comes to realize that her destiny is not, never has been, her own.

I will definitely be joining you, may be a little late, I might even try reading two books at a time, but I have never been very successful at that before.

Hahaha me too. I usually ended up with one book and abandon the other one. Not to mention I need more time to finish them.

But I've already started this one book yesterday and couldn't finish it in one day, while I have buddy reading Snow Like Ashes with Jackie now. So I have to read both of them at the same time. Finger crossed I can do it successfully :D

No, it's still not March 2nd here but I'll start in a bit. :)

Chapter 1, and it's already confusing me with its place setting :)

Just to make it clear (for me) I'll sum up here. Please correct me if I'm wrong. (view spoiler)[So there is a land (a main kingdom?) called Primoria, consists of 8 kingdoms. These 8 kingdoms divided into 2 kind of kingdoms, Rhythm and Season. Meira and Mather are Winterians from Winter Kingdom of Season Kingdom.

Chapter One: (view spoiler)[I really like the idea of having a world with four kingdoms made up of the four seasons. What are the other four though? I can only guess they're kingdoms made up of all four seasons instead of just one. I hope the magic will be explained further. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 9 (view spoiler)[I wonder whether Noam's magic that makes Meria feels cozy, comfortable and relax. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 2-(view spoiler)[There seems to be a lot of details to the lands and magic yet somewhat simple based on the names and everything. (hide spoiler)]

Finished Ch 6- (view spoiler)[Ugh! Her continous calling of Sir is annoying. But he sure is protective over her it seems... (hide spoiler)]

Chapter Six: (view spoiler)[I really like the world building at this point because the info dumping isn't extreme. The suspense and plot is also good for the pacing while not being excessive for a first novel. I like how Meira is standing up for herself and her relationship with Mather. I hope they win against the other scouts. (hide spoiler)]

I think I'm finally understanding the world set up for sections made of seasons and four sections made of rhythms.. Just finished chapter 10(view spoiler)[Really don't like love triangles, I hope this is not how this is going. I really don't see any way around it though. I like all the characters except for maybe Sir, but I think he has a story, and I will eventually like him.. The bottom line is we all have to sacrifice and life, and if your big sacrifice is marrying a hot prints, I wouldn't complain too much ;-) (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[What is up with the unspoken bits of Meira? Something is going on. I have two theories but not sure which is more likely yet but there has to be a reason for Sir protecting her, the looks Mather passed and why the king Noam is so interested in her. (hide spoiler)]

I agree, (view spoiler)[I kind of wonder if he'd be so interested in Meira if she were really just an orphan girl. I understand that a marriage to gain access to Winter's land is beneficial, but I wonder if Meira is some kind of royal or there's something more to her. (hide spoiler)]

I'm in the middle of Chapter 15 i've been busy most of the day, and now I have to go to my son's baseball game. I just needed to say something, these girls try so hard to be strong and it comes off very whiny at times ;-)that being said I am liking the book, it just gets a little tiresome with the constant complaining.

Couldn't agree more, Berit! She's whiny all the times and what irritate me more is she keeps telling me she wants to matter to Winter but when she gets chance to matter, she complaint that it isn't as her own way.

Yes, exactly! I finished it last night, have to force myself to keep reading it. How far are you now?

Chapter Fourteen: (view spoiler)[I wish she'd stay with Mather instead of Theron even though he seems like an okay guy. I like the fact that this is a love triangle because it doesn't seem cheesy or drawn out. Instead, I feel that this love triangle is going to help Meira and the rest of Winter put their differences aside and find what's truly important. I want to know if there's more to Meira. Chapter 12- (view spoiler)[I wouldn't be happy with the arranged marriage either but honestly what does she think a few people by themselves can do? (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 28, for those of you have read this already will you read the next one? I am liking it a bit better I have to say.

(view spoiler)[I think she's probably finally figured out that she was being a bit selfish, I think she had an aha moment. I hope the big plot twist is not that she is the queen's daughter, because I did see that one coming. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter Sixteen: I can't even with the feels!! (view spoiler)[Wow! Just wow! The action hasn't stopped since the beginning, if anything, it's even bigger now! Can't wait to see the battle between the kingdoms and wow! (hide spoiler)]

I finished earlier today! I gave it three stars. I liked it, and will probably read the next in the series.just because I'm curious as to what direction it will go.

Glad you liked it. If it keeps building like this I'll probably give it 4.5 or 5 stars.

I would have rated it four stars if it weren't for the whining early on, the book only gets better.

Now that I've finished, I understand the whining a little more. I really liked this book.

I'm glad you liked it. I think the next one comes out sometime this year, I'm curious to see where it goes.
