Lately we have had fewer nominations and very few seconds. I’ve been punting by leaving a previous month’s pick up for another month when no book for that type of pick was seconded.

If we drop down to a single book a month, how should we handle the Limited books? I see several options:

1. Just have one nomination thread and remove the restriction that books have to be available in multiple formats from multiple vendors. This essentially throws Reader and Limited into the same pool. One group read each month, assuming something is seconded.

2. Drop Limited. If books aren’t available in multiple formats, we can’t use them for group reads. One group read each month, assuming something is seconded.

3. Continue having two nomination threads, and leave the thread up until something gets seconded. If that’s more than a month since we started the last Limited book, we start the seconded one in about a week. Two group reads at any given time but the Limited one doesn’t change monthly, and it might stay on the group front page for a few months.

What’s your opinion? Or do you have another option?

Joseph (jsaltal) | 1 comments I like the second one I believe. Keep it that the books have to be in multiple formats. This would help to find the books.

L J | 186 comments I tend to go for 3 because it includes books that may be of less interest due to lack of availability rather than quality of book. The nominations for Limited interest me no matter how long it takes to get a second.

I use the nominations and comments to add to my to read and re-read lists rather than determining what I read that month. I will continue to appreciate being introduced to new to me books and authors and reminded of old favorites no matter how the lists are done.

Audrey | 518 comments I suggest option 3 for now. I don't know about everyone else, but sometimes things get too busy even for books I do eventually want to read. I don't want to second a book I know I won't be able to read then comment on. I notice that we have been getting some comments on threads for books that were picks in previous months.
