SOLVED: Adult Fiction > SOLVED. There's a cave. And a brother. And death. Possibly a TV crew. [s]

Jezi | 13 comments A man goes back to the cave his little brother got lost in years before when they were kids. The brother is presumed dead but the body was never found. A TV/Film Crew (?) and the man go into the caves to try and find his brother's body. I'm not sure they find him, but I know one or more people die either because of cave-ins, or some sort of traps set by some sort of ancient civilisation...? I remember there being something mysterious about these caves, not sure if it was paranormal or something to do with a curse or magic.

I think the the main character was responsible for the little brother, was supposed to watch him, and so there's huge theme of feeling guilty.
I believe I read it somewhere between the late 90's and the early '00 so I think the book was probably written in the 90's. It's a thriller (horror?) geared towards adults.

I'll have to check that one out. I have read a few novels by Preston&Child, I know that. It's entirely possible that my memories of it are off. Thank you for the suggestion!

I agree this sounds like Riptide (I've read it). The plot points match, I can't specifically remember a TV crew as in one from a TV station, but there are people diving down to the cave(s)/tunnels with a camera which is transmitting to a closed-circuit TV so the investigation can be monitored.

Moving to Solved.
