I read Thursbitch by Alan Garner -- an extraordinarily dense novel that I've bounced off before. This time I immersed myself and soaked up the brooding atmosphere and all the myth. It prompted me to reread some other novels by Garner, who's an author I like and admire but sometimes find impenetrable.
Alcohols by Guillaume Apollonaire. He was sort of in between the Symbolists and Surrealism in French literature. This work is a prime example of how much influence he had on the latter movement. The title is appropriate. The poems make you feel like you're in that not-quite real-world feeling you can get after a drink or two.
I read Welcome Home to Murder by Cindy Kline. A friend had recommended it last year but I never got around to reading it until now.

The Handmaids Tale by Margaret Atwood. This could have gone in so many categories for me.... Controversial ratings, but I gave it a 5.
Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of Growing Up a Wizard by Tom Felton. I'm a huge Harry Potter fan, and I wanted to read this one last year but didn't get around to it.
