"You're always after me Lucky Charms."

In honor of St. Patrick’s day, our theme will be that old favorite cereal, Lucky Charms. The first boxes of Lucky Charms cereal contained marshmallows in the shapes of pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers. This is the list of permanent marshmallows (according to Wikipedia) along with each one’s own special meaning or “power” that it represents.

Hearts - power to bring things to life
o Read a book from an author you love or an author that spins a story larger than life OR
o Read a book which has a character that gives birth (human baby or animal baby or a fabulous idea) OR
o Read a book about zombies
Shooting Stars - power to fly
o Read a book that has a character that can fly (angel, certain vampires, pilots, etc.) OR
o Read a book that involves air travel (plane, space ship, stewardess) OR
o Read a Science Fiction book
Horseshoes - power to speed things up
o Read a book about a race or a character who races (cars, track, horses) OR
o Read a novella or an installment of a serial OR
o Read a book that you just can’t put down
Clovers - luck, but you will never know what kind of luck you'll get
o Read a book where someone gets lucky OR
o Read a book where someone is down on their luck OR
o Read a book with a green cover
Blue Moons - power of invisibility
o Read a book about ghosts or a character that has the power of invisibility OR
o Read a book that has a character that is stealthy, undercover, or is in hiding OR
o Read a book that has a moon on the cover.
Rainbows - instantaneous travel from place to place
o Read a book that has a character that can teleport (or similar power) OR
o Read a book that has a rainbow on the cover OR
o Read a book that takes place somewhere you’ve always wanted to visit and let it transport you there.
Balloons - power to make things float
o Read a book that is light hearted and raises your spirits OR
o Read a book that has a balloon, air ship or dirigible in it (Steampunk anyone?) OR
o Read a book with a higher power (angels, gods).
Hourglass - power to control time
o Read a book that takes place in more than one time period (a modern book with flash backs to an era past for example) OR
o Read a book that is a historical, fiction or not, any genre OR
o Read a book that has a time piece of some sort on the cover.

Limited Edition Marshmallows (For Bonus Points)
There have been more than 30 featured limited edition marshmallow shapes over the years, with the introduction of themed Lucky Charms, such as Winter Lucky Charms. Some of these include:

In 1986, a whale-shaped marshmallow was temporarily added to the lineup
o Read a book that features a creature from the sea
In 1990, a green pine tree-shaped marshmallow was temporarily added to the lineup. During that time, the cereal promoted Earth Day with a free Colorado Blue Spruce seedling with proofs-of-purchase.
o Read a book that has a character that is a “tree hugger” (active to protect the earth/environment)
blue diamonds in 1975
o Read a book that involves a mine or mining or precious gems.
pots of gold in 1994
o Read a book where a character comes into a lot of money/valuables.
leprechaun hats in 1997
o Read a book with a character that is very mischievous
a crystal ball in 2001
o Read a book where a character can read the future, is a gypsy or a fortune teller.
The "Hidden Key". It is a solid yellow marshmallow that resembles an arched door (similar to the shape of a tombstone; flat at the bottom, flat sides with a round top). When liquid is added to the cereal, the sugar in the marshmallow dissolves and the shape of a skeleton key appears "as if by magic." The tagline was, "Unlock the door with milk!"
   o Read a book with a secret.
In early June 2006, General Mills introduced Magic Mirror marshmallows
o Read a book that has magic or is magical to read.

"They're magically delicious!"

Rules: One point for each book read, in either permanent or featured marshmallow sections. An extra point if you read one book for each of the permanent marshmallows.

Pink Hearts – 1-3 points
Yellow Moons - 4-6 points
Orange Stars - 7-9 points

Love that title lol."

Yes I thought so myself, I bought it mainly because of the title - unfortunately, the book itself was rather dull and uninspired and the characters rather one-dimensional. They were like: Hey, I killed all my friends, the world thinks I'm a high-school shooter, I can't even let my family know that I'm OK and not some sort of psycho killer and some bad-ass military types are on my heels to kill me - let's see what's on the radio!'
