TS Chan (tschan) | 159 comments I love the Bridgeburners, and especially the sappers - what a bunch of crazy awesome fellas.

I really love this chapter for a few other reasons:

- Paran recognising the Grey Swords to be more than just mere mercenaries
- Mallet backing-up Paran
- Paran taking a stand against Nightchill
- Itkovian! Embracing the grief of Rath'Fener and every soul in the city. How can one mortal man contain all that? And still he is not done. I am getting goose pimples while I write this. While I am not going mention any spoilers for future chapters, suffice to say that his storyline actually affects me the most in this whole book.

Alex Willis (fightingokra) | 71 comments I enjoy the unity amongst the various groups of soldiers. The decision by Picker and Blend to back up Paran was nice to see. Despite some of his inner battles I really like Paran. There is a lot of depth in his involvement of the story and it is nice to see the Captain accepting these responsibilities.

Paran's confrontation with Nightchill was interesting. Nightchill doesn't seem to be the person that Whiskeyjack and others claim her to be. She was very calm and somewhat understanding in her dealings with Paran, and though she did get annoyed at one point, she still did not overreact with the vengeance and anger rumored to be reside within her.

You are right about Nightchill. My guess is that they only see Nigthchill the High Mage who was betrayed by Tayschrenn. But she is way more than that as the Sister of Cold Nights, the sister of K'rul no less.

'Hello, Capustan. The Bridge burners have arrived.'
