Jensue Ferrell | 6 comments I re-read Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. It is incredible that she could walk the Pacific Crest Trail by herself. And she found herself so it does make you think about your life.

Jade Torres (jadejulissaa) | 1 comments Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction

The last book I read was "Beautiful Boy," a memoir written by David Sheff about his life and his struggle with his son's drug addiction. It's a melancholy but beautifully written book, and I've learned more about addiction. I always knew that addiction affected the addict's family, but this book really opens your eyes to all things.

Cemaliye Nouri (cem_nouri) | 7 comments The last book I read was Yellowface by R. F. Kuang. Great book! Keeps you at the edge of your seat and leaves you wondering if the main character is a villain, or is right for everything that she did. 👍🏼👍🏼

Vika Trestore | 4 comments The last book I read was "Torchlight Parade" by Jéanpaul Ferro. I don' know if anyone has read this book, but it is a cross between "Doctor Zhivago" and Anthony Doerr's "All the Light We Cannot See." Just a gut wrenching page-turner. I've had to reread it again, which I normally don't do, just because it touched my soul in so many spots. Just lovely.

message 647: by Margaret (new)

Margaret (magsbxv) | 8 comments Days Without End by Sebastian Barry. Fascinating, gay, trans lead character (Thomas McNulty) orphaned at 13 fighting in Indian and Civil Wars. Actually marries his male partner (john cole) in Grand Rapids between the Wars. The book’s focus is all of his life experiences not just his evolving identity and partner relationship, thus the book is not an LGBTQ+ book. In fact, the book description never mentions this aspect of the story. Being a gay man/trans woman is just part of McNulty’s life and thoughts, not his whole life, as these things should be because no one is just one thing. Life and people are complex characters. Well done Sebastian Barry!
