Keys To My Heart

is the last book I read its entirety.
Although published in 1902, it is startling just how relevant it is today, in the wake of recent events in the Middle East (and the U.S., and France, etc.).
From the preface:
"This book is addressed to people with open minds. It runs counter to a good number of prejudices and flatters none of them, which is not going to please a great number of readers. It deals with questions wherein one is so seldom used to impartiality that one is ill-disposed to tolerate it..."
"The very [people] whom I will have failed to convince will accord me this justice at least, that during the course of this work I have always been inspired by the spirit of freedom and the feelings of concord and, allow me to add, the spirit of patriotism and the spirit of charity. I have had no other goal than to combat the hatreds that exist..."

Nice Choice. It does not get much better than Dostoevsky. Although Leon Bloy gets quite close at times in intensity and angst. For instance in Blood of the Poor (which is not a novel), or The Desperate Man (which is).

By Joan lowery Nixon

Was this book good? I really liked T.J. Klune's The House on the Cerulean Sea
