https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/6...

Can't wait to dig into this one with you guys, please remember to use spoiler tags and let us know where you are in the story when discussing :)

Badseedgirl | 1033 comments I read this one in October, but I will be curious about what everyone thinks. I've already added several of Ms. Castaneda's books to my TBR list.

I think I'm going to pick this one up! I'd never heard of it before the nominations, and I'm excited to try something new. :D

Marinka Can’t wait to read it!
Just ordered from Amazon, no library has it around here 🙁

Theresa (mysteries.and.mayhem) (mysteriesandmayhem) | 359 comments This has been on my TBR. I'll definitely be reading along! Looking forward to it! :)

Terry and dog (terryanddog) I read this in October, and loved it. My second book by Debra Casteneda, (the first was The Devil's Shallows, which I really enjoyed too.

Jonathan I know nothing about this book or author so I’m happy going in not knowing much. Happy reading to all of you and Happy Halloween

TheNinjaReadsHorror (id173) | 16 comments I'm so excited that this was chosen for November's read so it gets more exposure! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!

Charlene (Char)🍁☕️📚 | 67 comments Hello! I started reading this book tonight! It does look really good !

message 13: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Griffin | 97 comments Unfortunately, I don’t see it for sale other than at the Evil Empire, which I refuse to support! Even the author’s website directs buyers there. 😒 Did manage to get our other read, From Below, at an independent store and I’m super excited to start that book!

Zoe Surratt (zoesurratt) | 16 comments It looks interesting so I will rent it or find an audio version since I don't have any money currently, waiting til next pay.

TheNinjaReadsHorror (id173) | 16 comments FYI I signed up for BookSirens and had gotten a free ARC from them back in September. Maybe check with them, they might still have it.

Charlene (Char)🍁☕️📚 | 67 comments I’m on chapter 7 I think and so far this book is really good ! I like how the author took it back to the 80’s definitely love the characters. I can’t wait to read how this story unfolds!

Sally | 340 comments @Indra I love BookSirens, they have the best stuff!

@Char the 80's?! Say no more! I'm making time for this one!

Marianne Taylor (mariannetaylor) | 2 comments Just picked this one up on Kindle, can't wait to get started! Sounds right up my street

Marinka I Iam reading another book right now and that particular book just irritates the hell out of me. I can’t wait to finish it and start our read. Lol

Charlene (Char)🍁☕️📚 | 67 comments So I finished the book a wee bit early but it was really good !! From beginning to the end book kept my attention and I absolutely love it ! This is definitely a good book ! Honestly the suggestions that are made are always good !!

That's so great to hear!! I can't wait to dive in.

Marianne Taylor (mariannetaylor) | 2 comments 30% of the way in according to kindle, loving it so far but (and I don't think this is a spoiler because it happens within the first couple of chapters) Knox accepting the job and moving knowing his wife would despise it without consulting her about it?!?! Terrible move on his part.

Monika Leubner haven't yet waiting on my copy to come in the mail will start next week hopefully

Marinka Just got my book today!! Will start once I finish From Below 🙂

Badseedgirl | 1033 comments Tony wrote: "OMG Marianne, I am totally on the opposite end of the spectrum about opinions about the wife.

I have a hard time thinking of two people who should have married less than these two. Why would someone who does not want to be in a rural setting marry a park ranger?

I read this prior to the start of this months theme, but my review is here:

Badseedgirl | 1033 comments As a bonus, this forest is real, and is possibly the largest organism on the planet!

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments 105 pages/37% in and hoping it picks up with scarier stuff/horror. LoL I'm waiting for something crazy to happen as there's a lot of dialogue and not enough situations. Let's see what transpires...

Kasia (kasia_s) | 4525 comments Mod
Starting page 1 after I finish typing my comment, hope it's a good one :)

Chandler | 255 comments You guys have me intrigued! Amazon is supposed to deliver my copy on Monday.

Theresa (mysteries.and.mayhem) (mysteriesandmayhem) | 359 comments I just started this evening. So far, so good. :)

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments Just finished it and sadly, it just wasn't for me. For those that enjoyed it, I'm glad you did! For those that have yet to read it, happy reading :-)

Clara (sendshorts) | 5 comments Tony wrote: "A match made in hell. As a matter of fact, that marriage might actually be the main horror story."

Loved that, agreed!

LOL. I rolled my eyes at her plenty too while reading.

Thanks for providing that link! I had already decided I needed to learn more about these trees and that sure made it convenient for me.

Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 634 comments I started today. Just up to Chapter 4 (page 23) but I like the set-up and feel bad for Knox. I just don't think this new job is going to help his marriage. The short Chapter One was ominous and foreshadows what may come later. I'm excited to keep reading.

You just read it wrong LTJ... Just kidding :P

Uh oh curious to how I will feel about it.

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments @Kasia: I MIGHT HAVE READ IT WRONG!!! :-P

LoL also curious to your thoughts on it, looking forward to them when done and well, happy reading :-)

Haha LTJ and Kasia! You guys are too funny! I'm about a quarter of the way through now and I'm still enjoying it.

Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 634 comments I'm up to Chapter 16 (page 123) and enjoying this. There is a good flow to the writing, and that kept me turning the pages last night. This is obviously a slow burn with minimal build-up to the horror, but the drama between Knox and the local cattle farmer, and his wife's unhappiness plus Sandra's stress at the television station is more than enough to keep this entertaining.

Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 634 comments Now at Chapter 23 (page 173). No longer a slow build, this became even more of a page-turner several chapters ago. If you can hang on until you get to this point, I think you will be rewarded.

Michael J. (michaeljclarke) | 634 comments A very good read! Four Stars.
I finished this morning. I read most of this book in one day, which I never do unless I'm really engaged with the story and also have the time to spare (or make the time).
My short, spoiler free review is here . . . . .https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Karmen (karmens) | 16 comments I read through this book much faster than planned - it reads well and I loved Sandy and Knox, but many other characters there are underdeveloped, especially Colleen.

It's a decent read though I have to say it didn't spook me out at all with an exception of a few pages in the second half.

I'm however glad I've discovered and read this book thanks to this group.

Theresa (mysteries.and.mayhem) (mysteriesandmayhem) | 359 comments I'm about 60% through the book now. I don't mind a slow burn. I kind of enjoy the anticipation and learning more about the characters along the way. Now things are picking up, as Michael said a few comments ago, and I'm more than fully invested! I even got up early this morning to fit some more reading into my day! Darned work gets in the way of my reading - I guess I need to work to pay for my page-turning habit! 😂

message 50: by LTJ (new) - rated it 1 star

LTJ (ltj81) | 2000 comments @Theresa: LoL happens to me too so what I try to do is every 2 hours I work, I take a 10-15 minute reading break when possible. It helps tremendously!
