Taking nominations for next year's quarterly reads. Parameters would be anything over 600 and less than 999 pages. We will take nominations for awhile and then vote towards the end of the month, usually right after the BOTM voting. So in the ballpark of 11/26 or so.

Are there any exclusions, Kristel? I can't remember how long in between re-reads.

I don't think there ever is exclusions cause it is nominations followed by voting so if a person picks something that has been read before they may not get their choices,

If anyone knows differently let me know. I looked back but couldn't find my notes. I know I have them somewhere. I would say don't nominate anything that was read in 2022. That just doesn't seem like a good idea.

So I found this from 2018; In October we will be nominating books for our 2018 quarterly reads. These are from books >600 pages. You can nominate as many books as you like. Books must not have been a previous seasonal read (?time period). We will vote on these in November. Each person will have 4 votes to use. (no participation points will be needed). Three books are chosen from the books that get the most votes and one by randomizer from all nominated books. The order is assigned by randomizer.

procedure for choosing Quarterly reads
In November we will be nominating books for 2023 quarterly reads. These are books from 601 pages to 999 pages. You can nominate as many books as you like. Book must not have been a previous seasonal read (? time limit, do you want a list of past Quarterly?) We will vote at the end of November. Each person will have 4 votes to use. No participation points are needed. 3 books will be chosen by the votes and one by randomizer from the nominated books. The order that quarterly books are read is assigned by the randomizer.
Hope that helps.

You can check the group book shelf. It should tell you if a book was a previous quarterly read.

I can't believe it is November already but this is my favorite time of year, planning next year's reads. So I will start off with...

A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving (637 pages)
The World According to Garp by John Irving (610 pages)
Parade's End by Ford Madox Ford (836 pages)
The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby by Charles Dickens (817 pages)

George P. | 728 comments I'll nominate The Adventures of Augie March by Saul Bellow. Most paperback editions are a little less than 600 pages but some hardcovers are more than 600 https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/9.... He was a Nobel laureate and the novel won the National Book Award and is on the Guardian 100 list.

I'll also nominate The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas (625 pgs). A couple others I thought to nominate have already been seasonal/quarterly reads.

Amanda Dawn | 1679 comments Diane has already put up one of the books I want to read (Parade's End), so the other 3 I'll nominate are:

-Gravity's Rainbow
-In the First Circle
-The Last Chronicle of Barset

Valerie Brown | 885 comments Lots of good choices so far. I own Parade's End and In the First Circle; and the library has Irving, Dumas, Bellow, and Dickens.

I would enjoy it if Gravity's Rainbow was voted in because I would love to read some discussion about that book (even though I won't be reading it again)!

The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll

Gail (gailifer) | 2177 comments Of the 21 on the list, I have only read one of them; The Corrections. I would very happily read at least 11 of the others if they are chosen. However, I am going to vote for these three:
Parade’s End
Gravity’s Rainbow
The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll
