I love both of these series. Have you read the Kate Daniels "Wilmington Years" books too? They are so great.

KarenMac | 4 comments A Demon Is Forever (Book 2 Vexatious Valkyries) No one does bloodthirsty banter better than Jane Cousins. Heaps of laughs and plenty of sizzle.

A Demon Is Forever (Vexatious Valkyries, #2) by Jane Cousins

Though do yourself a favour and start with book 1 - What's Up, Buttercup?

DemetraP | 129 comments Guarded by the Snake by Layla Fae Guarded by the Snake Monster Security Agency by Layla Fae

The hero is a snake guy (shehru) with bulletproof scales, two sets of genitals, and a very long snake tail. He also has fangs and can kill with venom. Everyone is afraid of him, even his boss. He works as a bodyguard.

The heroine is a thief (she has a very good reason for becoming a thief) and after she steals from a bad man she is trying to get revenge on, she needs a bodyguard to keep her alive while she figures out her next steps.

Since the hero is a snake, he has a hard time when she fidgets because he is naturally attracted to movement, it screams "prey" to his instincts. Heroine loves to fidget.

They are stuck together 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, while he guards her. They fall in love.

The steamy moments are very steamy. He likes to talk dirty to her and praise her. He tells her she's beautiful and she's his good girl and his pet. He likes to wrap her up in the coils of his snake tail and restrain her. Everything is done with her consent.

I will definitely re-read this book.

Examples of the hero's dirty talking:

"You're taking me so well, pet. So good."
"Shh, sweetheart. It's all right. I have you. It's all right. I'm here. I'll fill you right up. Is this what you want? You like feeling full?"
"So gorgeous. This is where you belong, pet. With my c*** inside you. This is what you're made for. To come all over me when I f*** you. Now be a good girl and take a bit more. Just a little. You can do it."

They have to find their fated mate.

message 112: by Maureen (new)

Maureen Vercruysse | 1818 comments Claimed by the Flame of Faery by Mallory Dunlin. It’s third in a series where humans on the verge of death are taken to Faery they commit to work off their debt for being saved. The entire series is surprisingly good!

message 113: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 129 comments I love author Mallory Dunlin's books too.

message 114: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 129 comments Alpha of Bleak Isle by Kathryn Moon was really good.

It is omegaverse with a twist. He is an alpha. He is looking for an omega to have his babies.

Except many omegas die in childbirth. It's almost a historical romance setting with castles and ballgowns.

I liked how the heroine grew emotionally and watching them fall in love. The Alpha of Bleake Isle (Dragonkin, #1) by Kathryn Moon

message 116: by Trisha (new)

Trisha | 1 comments I'm about to start my millionth reread of the Prophecies of Angels and Demons series by Cassandra Aston! The last book comes out in November, so I'm going to read the first two and the two novellas in order before the release so I can get my theories straight.

It's a dark urban fantasy with Angels/Demons/Witches/Vampire adjacent creatures that draws heavily from Christian and Greek mythology. It's SO well researched and a fantastic series. I can't recommend it enough.

If anyone's interested, the reading order is:
Grave Secrets
Firefly (Novella 1.5)
Grave Prophecies
Light (Novella 2.5)
Grave Revelations (Released November 2024).

It's also on Kindle Unlimited if you're looking for your next read there! I just love this series so much and think it's SO underrated!!

message 127: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 129 comments Guarded by the Phantom by Layla Fae was awesome. The hero has a skull with eyes that change colors to pink or red. He has armor that is part of his body but can retract in certain areas. His skin under his armor is gray.

His fluids are black. He has special piercings "down there".

He says very funny things. He likes to talk dirty and call her his good girl.

The heroine's mother is very controlling so those scenes irritated me.

The hero is very obsessed with her. Because of his "issues" his employer makes him attend therapy regularly. His phone calls with his therapist made me laugh out loud.

DemetraP | 129 comments I'm reading the newest book in the New Protectorate series by Abigail Kelly. Devotion's Covenant.

He is a shadow manipulator and magic sigil spellcaster. He has horns and can wrap shadows around himself and others and disappear. She is a witch. He is really in love with her.

She tries to hire him to spy on a bad guy who killed her only family member. The only payment he will accept is her permanent "witch bond" which links their life force.

message 136: by Tia (new)

Tia Lynk | 1 comments Hello! Please help! I am looking for a book/series that I have read. I can’t remember the name but I do remember some details.

This girl goes to a book signing and gets to meet the author and the male models that are on the covers of her books. The Author invites the girl to an after party where she introduces the girl to a man named Orion who is her mate though the girl doesn’t know that yet. The Author is actually a Psychic that writes her stories about a pack of werewolves; Orion is a werewolf as well.

I also remember that there is a vampire that the girl befriends.

I think there is another pack and Orion has to fight one of the other pack members. The girl, not knowing the rules jumps in to try and save Orion, but one of the wolves that came with her and Orion jumped in instead to save her from fighting and gets killed.

I really loved this series , but can’t seem to find it.

DemetraP | 129 comments Lessons with the Mothman by Kathryn Moon (Monster Smash Agency book 3) was great.

He is a mothman with large wings, a fur ruff, antennae, claws, and a long tongue. She is a graduate student working on her PhD degree. She is working on a study about monster sexuality.

The mothman has watched his friends fall in love and he wants to find love.

He helps her find monsters to interview for her study.

SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS

She has a lot of difficulty reaching "the peak". He enjoys the challenge. They role play. Student and teacher, Victorian br@thel customer and her first client.

He also woos her. He watches romantic movies to try to get tips so she will fall in love with him.

There is one threes@me scene. Her, mothman, and a kraken. All 3 touch each other and have fun. He wanted to show her a good time and prove he wouldn't make her give up her independence if they were in a relationship.

There were some things I did not like. The heroine is a little insecure. And before she met the hero, she cheated on her fiance with her professor. I do not like cheaters. And now her former fiance is marrying her little sister. But overall I really liked the book.

It reads fine as a stand alone. The couples from book 1 and 2 are his friends and make appearances.

message 142: by DemetraP (new)

DemetraP | 129 comments I just finished Long Live Evil and it was so good. I could not put it down. The heroine is dying of cancer. A mysterious person appears and says she can go into the story she had recently read, and if she can get a specific flower it will heal her and she may return home. She wakes up as the evil stepsister who is about to be executed. So she knows the story and has to keep herself alive while making sure the right things happen to continue the story.

There is a very slow burn romance. Very slow. I would also say it is a cliffhanger ending.
