Liz M 20.10 - Canonical - Liz M’s Task:
Read any of the books written by a woman author that has at least one work listed on Harold Bloom’s Western Canon.

Lagullande | 1131 comments Does this mean "any book on the Canon which was written by a woman" or "any book by a woman who has a book on the Canon"?

I'm not meaning to split hairs, I just thought it best to clarify now.

Thanks for asking! I didn't realize the task could be read both ways.

I mean the latter -- Iris Murdoch has two books listed on Bloom's Canon (The Good Apprentice, Bruno's Dream) but ANY book she has written qualifies for this task (Under the Net, The Sea, the Sea, Bruno's Dream, etc).

Thanks, Liz.

Theresa~OctoberLace (octoberlace) | 518 comments Good to know we can read any book written by a woman who is listed on the Canon! Of course, I expect that only the books specifically listed in the Canon qualify for the Canon style points.

You are correct. Any book by a listed author for the task, specific titles listed for the style points.
