In the second book in the Mycroft & Sherlock series readers get a lot more of Sherlock than in the first book. It has been two years since the events of the first book when a series of murders of Chinese men catch the attention of Mycroft Holmes and his friend Cyrus Douglas. Douglas is now using the proceeds from his successful import business to run a home for orphaned boys where they learn a trade and become apprentices. When one of the boys from the home dies of a drug overdose, the brothers and Douglas start to investigate how a boy with so much promise got in over his head in the world of opium dens and organized crime.
These are fun reads that imagine a teenaged Sherlock Holmes. Although it was fun having more Sherlock in this book, I did miss seeing more from Douglas' point of view. The mystery was OK and I enjoyed finding out how all the different threads came together at the end. The books make a fun pallet cleanser and I will definitely continue the series.
