Team Outlander

The basic information can be found in message 4 and message 5 with the start of the challenge and the rules. Please read them carefully and feel free to ask questions if something is not clear.
There you also find the link to the tracking sheet I have created for our team.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
You can all edit this sheet and if you like planning a bit ahead, please feel free to add your books and claim tags/colour cover.
The initial plan is to claim 1 letter with each of your books and list other letter options in a different column. (Michelle, Sophie and I can play tetris at the end of each round to make sure we have complete spell-outs if possible.)
*If you are not comfortable with spreadsheets, please do a full completion post for your books in the team thread, listing all required details and we can add it for you.
- Link to the right book edition
- Author
- Pages number
- Read date
- Letters your book could be used for listing the character names, etc.
- and please make sure your book is on your Wheel shelf.

Here's the link to my shelf: Wheel 7 NBRC

Just curious...have you read Outlander? If so, what did you think?
It's my favorite series of all time and I'm on my 2nd re-read of the whole series. I also really enjoy the TV show. So, needless to say, I was excited to see Outlander as my team name for this round of Wheel! :)

I loved Outlander but got a bit bored after the 5th book so that's as far as I got about 15 years ago. I do intend to give them another try some time. Sigh! Too many books, too little time...
If you can't have Sam Vimes then Jamie Fraser is a pretty good alternative :0)

The grey is promising, but will try and look at it on my laptop & get back to you.

It does not look grey enough, I think it has too much white in it. :(
But no worries, it seems we have the required 5 grey covers anyway, so we are good. 😊
Hi everyone! Glad to see all of you and have the chance to get excited together.
My copy of Outlander got ruined in a shampoo explosion when traveling 20 years ago so it's fair to say I'm a long term fan of the books.
I would say that the cover is grey enough. Looks pale grey rather than white to me. 3rd opinion anyone?

In the meantime I had a look at it on hubby's laptop, as his screen is bigger/better than mine (obviously ;) & the cover showed a very pale grey, so it's OK. 🙂

Yay!

I wish I had time to squeeze in a John Scalzi (hubby has all his books and Old Man's War have been on my TBR for some time), but between a new job & interior house painting (yikes, all that mess & packing) it's just not feasible. :(

Despite my love for everything Scottish (I have visited like 5 times) and being aware of the books/TV series, for some curious reason I was not tempted to give it a try.
So maybe this should be the incentive... ;)

We'll be in Scotland part of the time. We're also going to England, Ireland, and France. We are so excited to experience so many new things on our trip!

Sounds fantastic, Michelle!

Sounds fabulous. Renewal after the lost years.

9pm here so might get a few pages in. Bigger problem is that Tuesdy is a work day so might get 30mins reading in all day.

Are you painting it yourself or getting a professional in? I want to decorate ours, but so many decisions to be made first.
Good luck with the new job!

Have an incredible time! Glad you've been able to reschedule it all.

Question about the bonus points, does the book need both shelf and colour to get the bonus points or is one of the two criteria enough? For instance, I am planning to read Apples never fall. This is over 50% grey, but does not have space opera as a shelf. Would we still get bonus points?
Thanks
Books can count for 0, 1 or 2 bonuses depending on the book. So Apples Never Fall is good for grey.
After we have 5 grey covers, there are no more colour bonus points available. Looking at the SS, we've got 5 grey covers planned already. A couple of backups aren't a bad thing.

Let's try and fill-in 1 spell-it-out at a time.
Of course, if you have a book that works for one letter only which has already been claimed, just give us a shout here and we can discuss and make swaps, if necessary. :)

Thanks, Mel!

Yes, absolutely!!

I'm so about your trip being cancelled but it's awesome that you got your first home out of it!

Sorry for the late check in
I’ve been sick the past week and haven’t been able to do much.
I’ve joined in on a few Wheels before so am happy it’s on again. I’m from Melbourne, Australia and have seen a few other Aussies on these challenges. I’m looking forward to this challenge with you.
I tend to read what I feel like reading more so than anything else. I’ll catch up with that the team’s strategy is and chose my books then (:

I hope you're feeling better now. I'm in Melbourne too! I hope you didn't flood with the insane rain that came down overnight.

For the first round, we can't start any books until after the official challenge time rolls around. After that, we go by read date.

Ok great. Thanks so much!!!

Hello Teamies,
We are almost there: in about 6 hours the Wheel rolls off. 😍
As a reminder:

ROUND 1 : from 14 Nov to 21 Nov (9pm, UK time)
We will have one week to accomplish the spell-it-out, grey covers and Space Opera tags.

Emerald Blaze has been started and Apples Never Fall isn't going to be far behind."
Hidden Legacy is my favourite Ilona Andrews series (plus Innkeeper). :)
But I already (re)read them for UNO and TT9 this year.

Silje, I am so sorry. Fingers crossed you get better soon. (I had Covid twice, first time I ended up at ICU 😪)
But great find about Cress. ❤️

I'm sorry to hear you have COVID. I hope it's not hitting you too hard.
