S (roseybears) Recently came across a tiktok about a book that had a really cute scene but unfortunately the author of the book is one I do not like (dnf'd a book of theirs that had problematic/uncomfy content... so I'm hesitant to read another of their books).

The scene from the tiktok is as follows:

"It's your sister's birthday and you're dreading going home... You don't really want to see her with her fiancee... because you've always been in love with him.

So you hide away on the veranda, drawing on your tablet, hoping the night will go by quickly. But he finds you and sits down next to you.

'Hi cupcake,' he says calling you by the childhood nickname he gave you. Hearing it still makes your heartache.

He peeks at your drawing and smiles at you.

'You're amazing you know that.'

You heart skips a beat and you have to remind yourself that he's your sister's fiancee. He's not someone you should ever want.

He holds up a gift and hands it to you.

'I know it's your sisters birthday but it's yours soon too.'

You take it and unwrap it, your eyes widening when you see what it is.

'This drawing tablet isn't even out yet!' You turn it around and gasp.

He got the back customised with a cupcake on it...

'But... They don't customise these?'

He just smiles at you, his eyes filled with happiness.

'I thought you hated picking out presents?' Just a few days ago he asked you to help him pick a present for you sisters.

'I thought your secretary picked my present every year.'

He frowns. 'No,' he says his voice soft, 'I've always picked out yours every single year.'"

I thought this scene was so cute... but yeah I do not want to read this authors book so I was hoping there is something similar!

It doesn't have to be exact!!

Could be a childhood friend instead, an "enemy", boss, brothers/sisters bestfriend, two people who lost touch but one still keeps in contact with the others family/siblings... one character could be in a relationship, both could be in relationship, or neither are in a relationships... etc. << These kind of details (how they know eachother) don't really matter to me

I would prefer if the one who was receiving the gift was avoiding the other one because of something. If there is nothing like that it's fine!

But yeah... mainly looking for a:

'they both like eachother, neither says anything or will do anything about it (maybe because of a promise or other relationship idk)' and 'only personally buy gifts for one person' kind of book. (LOL, i hope this makes sense).

S (roseybears) Right?!

The original scene is from 'The Wrong Bride' by Catharina Maura.
