40 - A Book By an Author With the Same Initials as You

Kate Chopin
Kiera Cass
Kacen Callender
Kresley Cole
Katherine Center

Lara Elena Donnelly is the only one who comes to mind.

My want to read list throws up:
Amberlough
Pirate Women: The Princesses, Prostitutes, and Privateers Who Ruled the Seven Seas
Superheroes Anonymous
The Alexandria Quartet

This year I started sulking when I saw this prompt back, and wasn't quite sure what I was going to do, until I saw a book on my TBR by an author who has the same initials, but in reverse order. So I decided I was going to put as much effort into accurately fulfilling the prompt as Popsugar has put into compiling the list this year, and I've gone for The Land of Yesterday by K.A. Reynolds

If you are cool with mystery/thrillers, try Laura Dave. I enjoyed The Last Thing He Told Me.

Man it took forever to find the initials of RM but I finally found one.
I'm going on a theme of Indigenous themes/authors for the challenge this year so I looked at BirchBark Books hoping to find at least something. I then went and double-checked to see if I might have missed any to the point I was considering going with my middle and last initial or my first and middle initial. Anyways I found an Indigenous one. I know nothing about it other than the description that was given and the publishing date (2022, yae!)
Here's the book:
Rehearsals for Living
(Robyn Maynard)

There are two mystery writers with those initials:
Cara Black
Christin Brecher

I'm a fan of science fiction, fantasy, historical fiction, nonfiction, some mysteries.

If you like historical fiction mysteries with a female detective, I've got the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear on my TBR.
If you're looking for something a bit offbeat, I'm planning to read Killer Fashion: Poisonous Petticoats, Strangulating Scarves, and Other Deadly Garments Throughout History by Jennifer Wright. (It's my shortest TBR.)
I previously read her first book, Get Well Soon: History's Worst Plagues and the Heroes Who Fought Them, which was fascinating. Granted, that one was more amusing pre-'Rona…

Christopher L. Bennett has written some very good Star Trek novels and a few original ones. For the Trek, I would recommend Watching the Clock, Orion's Hounds, or The Captain's Oath.

I second the recommendation of A Long Way Home!

- The Dream Daughter by Diane Chamberlain (historical fiction)
- Eat a Peach by David Chang (memoir)
- The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton (fantasy)
- The Marvellers by Dhonielle Clayton (middle grade fantasy)
- The New Wilderness by Diane Cook (dystopian)
- Parkland: Birth of a movement by Dave Cullen (non-fiction, I think)
:)

Rhys Bowen is a mystery writer. Her Royal Spyness is the first in a series my friends have spoken highly of. She also won an awards for Murphy's Law.

Hello fellow DC initial haver! You could read Douglas Coupland, but I personally do not like his work. There is also Diane Chamberlaine. I read Big Lies in a Small Town and liked it, and I'm going to read The Silent Sister for this prompt.

Patrick Radden Keefe is an excellent writer, but it is somewhat heavy nonfiction as well...

If you can live with the same initials in a different place, then Philip K. Dick would work.

Liz wrote: "My initial are ERR. I have been trying to find author with the same initials but no luck. I also tried ER and nothing. I am thinking of using RR (for my two last names) or LR (my nickname and last ..."

Hmm... the only BD I have is Boman Desai who wrote, The Memory of Elephants

BJ Daniels
Barbara Delinsky
Barbara Davis
Bree Despain
Beth Duke
Bruce Degen
Brenda Davies

Another possibility I came across was Barbara Dawson Smith's Once Upon A Scandal. Different middle initial, but it would otherwise work.

Piajensen13, P.D. James is an English crime writer. Her books are very good. I have not read one in a long time but I remember liking Death Comes to Pemberley and The Children of Men.

The only one I found on my list is Paulette Jiles.
If you don't mind the reverse initials (JP), I found a couple more options for you:
Joshua Palmatier (fantasy)
Jason Porath - Rejected Princesses: Tales of History's Boldest Heroines, Hellions, and Heretics

Thanks! I see a couple of interesting Diane Chamberlain titles.

Hello back! And thanks. Big Lies in a Small Town sounds perfect! I'm a graphic designer and artist, so art restoration combined with a mystery sounds like a winner.

I already had this prompt in the past, so I automatically know that I want to read Lisa Genova's most recent and first nonfiction ..."
Anyone have suggestions for EP?
Brittany wrote: "Help! My initials are B.T. and I am STRUGGLING."
That is a challenge. If you like non-fiction, you've got lots of options, though!!
Booker T. Washington - Up from Slavery
Barbara W. Tuchman - The Guns of August
Beverly Daniel Tatum - Why Are All The Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?
In fiction:
Brandon Taylor - Real Life
Brenna Thummler - Sheets
Brad Thor - The Lions of Lucerne
Brad Taylor - One Rough Man
BUT if you switch the initials around, you get to choose authors like:
Tessa Bailey - It Happened One Summer
Terry Brooks - The Sword of Shannara
Taffy Brodesser-Akner - Fleishman Is in Trouble
Thi Bui - The Best We Could Do (this graphic novel is absolutely fantastic!!! And Vietnamese traditionally put their family name first! Unfortunately for you, I checked, and it looks like she's "Americanized" her name and Bui is her family name.)
