Hmmm.... let me dig into this 😈🧟‍♀️
Great idea, joy!

Lyn (lynm) | 1138 comments My F2F book group has The Island of Sea Women by Lisa See coming up. Would this fit the leadership tag? Just wondering, I'll try to find something else if it doesn't :)

I read this earlier this year and I think it fits leadership. Part of the story focuses on the leadership of the haenyeo.

Lyn (lynm) | 1138 comments Thanks Rachel, I appreciate your feedback. From what I had read about the book, I thought it might fit leadership, but wasn't sure.

Thanks for the tip, I'd forgotten my library has something similar as I've never used it before. I've managed to get it this way, so I really need to start it soon.

I'm also waiting on it from the library, so we'll see if it comes in time or not."

I've just finished In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin which I really enjoyed, so I have high hopes for it.

Jgrace | 3950 comments VERY clever banner for this month, Anna. I was wondering what you would come up with.

Thanks, Judith, but all I do is scour Google for images and choose them, so I can't take credit for coming up with the image itself! I choose 8-10 images and we admins vote on our favorite.

But Anna, you have a gift for picking images that work and often delight at the same time, like this one. Don't downplay that! I adore this months banner! It is a colorful imaginative interpretation of leadership, and it took me a second to make the connection when I saw it. Brava!

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11091 comments I used my library’s “Suggest a purchase” page yesterday, and they bought an audio of Search by Michelle Huneven. A church search committee is looking for a new leader. It sounds great so far.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11091 comments Anna, I like the banner! It reminded me of Turn the Ship Around!: A True Story of Turning Followers into Leaders .

I loved this particular banner that Anna found! She makes it super tough on us every month by putting forward awesome selections!!

Amy | 12933 comments Friends, I went to the library twice to look for the Speed Reads version of The Winners, and was unlucky and untimely twice, both times, leaving with armfuls of other books for this month. I admit it. I broke down and Amazoned it to myself. I figured after all, I have hardcovers of the other two in the trilogy.... So I will have the whole set. With three sons, this is a great thing to have for forever.

Amy | 12933 comments Trisha, yes! Buddy Read for the Winners! Excited to have you in PBT and looking forward to getting to know you. You, Me, Nancy, Jason, possibly Hannah, and I think possibly some others as well. I will open up a thread by Sunday for us, and you are also welcome (as is everyone and all new members) to join us for Trim the TBR 2023.

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11091 comments I'll start The Winners within the next 3-4 days I think. It also fits a Winter Sports prompt for another challenge.

I need some ideas for December flurries that mesh with Leadership. Any ideas? Are there any books for grownups involving Santa's workshop, store managers, or maybe company Christmas parties? I have the David Sedaris book Holiday book which probably doesn't fit leadership. I can handle one rom-com, or a sentimental book involving children.

I love the old movie Shop Around the Corner with Jimmie Stewart. I wonder if there is a book like that? Also the movie set in Macy's with Santa Claus on trial, when the post office proves Santa Claus does exist.

Yay! That's great! I'm currently reading it so I'll probably be done before Sunday but I'll definitely follow along and chat as you guys read it! It's been really good so far!

Amy | 12933 comments It’s coming in the mail for me, so I am likely starting it this weekend as well!
