I'm taking this book a bit slow; maybe because I'm finding out as I go that it's not the kind of book I usually read.

Since they are foreign names, I don´t know how to pronounce them, and that stinks.

I'm reading it in English. Even though I speak Spanish, I always try to read books in their original language, because I hate feeling that there might be some things lost in translation (jokes, idioms, etc).

I liked the story, but could not understand why Hassan was so nice to Amir, when Amir was so mean to him... I really liked the ending though.
I really want to start reading the lord of the flies, but i have to read some books for school... so i'm reading those books first, if you don't mind... i'm sorry

As you know, I had problems, at first, with the names, but I managed to leave that aside; then it came the cruelty of the story: I hate the fact that so many awful things happened to “the good guys”; but most of all, I am confused because, implicitly, we’re taught to sympathise with the main character in a story, but in this book Amir is a mean, selfish, and jealous kid (and he hasn’t changed over the years, he just feels guilty).
And just when you think that the victims are going to have their happy ending, after all they’ve been through, something even worse happens and you end up crawling in your bed wishing this book would finally end, so you can stop suffering.
Instead of a single star, I give it two stars, because, at least, there was some kind of justice in what happened later to Amir.
