For me, if you want a more relevant dystopia about the apathy of the majority, try Fahrenheit 451. It's not only a contrast to a book like 1984 but also less grim.

The Road do be just sitting on my shelf collecting dust :((( But fear not, I will read it.

Oh my goodness. Be warned, it won't make a merry bright Christmas :)

OOOOHHHH, now I'm interested on the book.

In a near-future Earth ravaged by climate change, teenage siblings Jake and Emily scavenge for survival in the ruins of Phoenix. Driven by their late father's dream of a world powered by clean energy, they uncover a hidden quantum chamber capable of opening gateways to alternate realities.
Guided by Professor Anya Sharma, they journey through the Multiverse, encountering a utopian Earth powered by solar technology and a dystopian world devastated by fossil fuel dependency. Armed with the Resonator, a device that can heal their world, they must confront the complex challenges of sustainable energy and technological responsibility while evading the clutches of the Chronos Corporation, a shadowy organization determined to exploit the quantum technology.

It's been called 1984/Brave New World for the modern age.
