I read In the Woods by Tana French and tore through the book in four days. This was a new author for me and I will definitely be picking up the next book in this series. Strong but flawed characters, wonderful use of language in parts, nice bits of humor tucked in, and a chilling murder mystery or two. This is one of my favorite books so far this year.

Okay….so. This book. Shit happens, and then just….KEEPS ON HAPPENING. I’ve never read a book that’s been able to successfully keep the tension level up for so long. At one point, about halfway through, I thought “How am I only 50% done? What else could possibly happen???”
I know there was a fair bit of chatter going on about this book when it was first published, but I somehow managed to not read a single spoiler - so I 100% stubbed my toe on the plot twist when it suddenly came along.
The only negative thing I have to say is that the ending did drag on a bit. I think it maybe could have ended a good 25-50 pages before it finally did. Having said that, as a whole, I enjoyed this book immensely, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

Book: In the Woods by Tana French
A good mystery within a mystery, complex characters and enough twists to be wholly satisfying. My review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Title: The Crimson Cord: Rahab's Story
Word: crimson
Author: Jill Eileen Smith
Another historical fiction-type book. I loved the different perspective on Rahab possibly being forced into prostitution, not choosing the "career" by choice. A good read.

In March I read the following (with the initials of the author):
-Lady in Waiting by SM
-Six Crimson Cranes by EL
-A Friend of the Family by LJ
-The Six by AT
-Six: The lives of the Mitford Sisters by LT
-Spirit Run by NA
-Beyond the City by ACD
-Don't you Cry by MK
-Through the Woods by EC
Crimson, Beyond, Friend, Cry, Wait, Six, Run, Woods
