I'm still reading the Adventure series by Enid Blyton. I've read The Mountain of Adventure, The Sea of Adventure and have just finished The Ship of Adventure.
Two more to go!
I see a distinct pattern in each one but they still lots of fun!

I've just finished the last of the Adventure series, The River of Adventure. It was fun but not as good as the others in the series, which I really enjoyed a lot.

Jenna Scribbles | 54 comments I loved Understood Betsy, Little Sister Snow and The Cinder Pond. All soooo good.

I discovered them as free classic kindle ebooks. I think if you dig, they will be on Amazon or the Project Gutenberg website.

Michelle | 156 comments I just picked up The Midnight Folk by John Masefield from the library to read for my spooky season reading list.
The Midnight Folk (Kay Harker, #1) by John Masefield

Later in the year I want to get to Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh by Robert C. O'Brien
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh by Robert C. O'Brien

I was also going to add The Silver Sword by Ian Serraillier to this year's book list but it looks like it is not available at my library physically nor digitally and is not on Everand, so I don't have access to it currently.

Daniela Sorgente | 27 comments I finished today A Pattern of Roses by K.M. Peyton. I had read her Flambard's quadrilogy but I was not able to find anything else. Then I found this one in a library. Have someone of you read it? It is a beautiful book and I wonder why it is so little known.

Are there any 2025 plans for the children's classics section of this group?

I do not think Rosemarie has anything planned. You can request a Buddy Read of course if there is one you are interested in for others comments. Otherwise I believe it is just commenting and sharing.

Rosemarie | 15728 comments Mod
Michelle, Lesle is correct, but as she also stated, we can set up a Buddy Read any time.

Enjoy your book-I really enjoyed it.

message 169: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 156 comments Thanks, y'all!

In 2025 I have The Brothers Lionheart by Astrid Lindgren on my tbr for January and Pippi Longstocking for later in the year. I have access to a few other of Astrid Lindgren's works through Everand or my library as well.

I'm not sure if anyone would be interested in doing a buddy read of Astrid Lindgren's children's works for 2025?

It looks like for a buddy read suggestion you're already supposed to have a buddy in the works, which I don't.

Michelle I am sure that there will be ones that want to read along with you. As I would like to read the original book in the series.

Michelle, I'm sure others will join you in a buddy read. We're a relaxed group so once we open the thread, members will join in when they have time.
It sounds like a great choice for a buddy read!

message 172: by Michelle (new)

Michelle | 156 comments Thank you Lesle and Rosemarie!

If you think there would be interest, I would like to suggest that as a buddy read topic for this group. Would I need to post that request in another thread?

The intro to her Wikipedia page has a much better/more interesting overview of her life and works than the Goodreads author page (at least the one in English).

This is the right place for a children's buddy read request, Michelle. I'll be setting it up here as well, next year-in two days!

Michelle | 156 comments I'm about to start Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster. I see it shelved as both young adult and children's, but having not started it yet, I'm not sure if that shelving is correct. I love the visuals of the movie.

In the old days, there was no Young Adult classification the way we have now. Then it meant that 13 or 14 year olds would not be bored reading it!
It's great for all ages!
I'm going to be rereading it shortly. I loved it!

Right now I'm reading Carney's House Party / Winona's Pony Cart to be followed by Emily of Deep Valley by Maud Hart Lovelace.
I've read all of her Betsy-Tacy books. They're fun.

The book inspired the movie, so you'll notice some differences. The book is funny, and charming.

It is definitely charming so far. It's not laugh-out-loud funny, but it has made me smile multiple times at the humor. So far I'm really enjoying it!
