Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to Verity by Colleen Hoover - 3.5*.

Author Lowen's new writing job brings her in contact with author, wife and mother Verity, who's an outrageous villain. Improbable story but entertaining.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to A Perfect Shot by Robin Yocum - 3.5*.

A hometown hero trying to make changes in his life gets in trouble with the Mafia. A likable hero, friendships and dark humor made this a good read.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments It's a wild ride on the coattails of ghosts and ghouls, swept along by Sri Lankan winds, in The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida, by 2022 Booker Prize winner Shehan Karunatilaka. More than half of my review is quotes, so there's more of his writing than mine. 😊

Carolyn | 2081 comments I loved the setting of this chilling murder mystery set in an isolated hut in deep winter in the Rocky Mountains, but the plot didn't work as well for me as for others.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Dark Hours by Michael Connelly - 3*.

A partly interesting police procedural with Detective Renee Ballard in the lead and assistance from Harry Bosch. Not as believable or suspenseful as some of Connelly's other books.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments Barren Grounds by AA B. Michael Radburn was a good read but didn't grab me as much as his other books, only because I didn't believe the ending, BUT I reckon it could be made into a terrific film or TV series. It has all the right elements.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments In the 1920s, London's dance halls, with their young 'hostesses', were the Shrines of Gaiety that Kate Atkinson showcases here. Crime, bent cops, girls as playthings to be cast aside. What a story.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Twist of a Knife by Anthony Horowitz - 3.5*.

Author Anthony and PI Hawthorne team up to prove Anthony didn't murder the theatre critic of his play. A light and humorous story.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments A Very English Murder is the first in the light-hearted, historical mystery series by Verity Bright, a husband and wife team. Lady Swift is young, adventurous, and good fun.
