Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Dig by John Preston - 3.5*.

This was a well-written book with a quiet story of a woman who owns a farm that has several huge mounds that she thinks have buried treasure. Interesting characters and archaeology.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to Radio Girls by Sarah-Jane Stratford - 3.5*.

Fun historical story of the early days of the BBC, the women who were allowed to work in important positions and the conflicts with some of the men's views on what to broadcast.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to I Think There's Another Terrorist In My Soup Abridged by David Brenner - 3.5*.

Brenner's take on many different topics. Sometimes the language is rough, sometimes Brenner seems like a jerk IMO, but there were still enough laugh-out-loud moments to make it entertaining.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments In Shades of Death: Murder at the Court of Elizabeth I, historian Angela Ranson presents Catrin, an appealing, independent young heroine whom the Queen sends to investigate death threats. Great read for historical mystery lovers.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments Fans have been waiting a while to see what author Graham Brack's Captain Josef Slonský has been up to, and I was glad to seem him back in (limping) action in Prague, solving the case of The Murdered Molls. Crime and humour - great mix.

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments I liked Wild Card, the second book in the Detective Zoe Mayer series even more than the first. Aussie author Simon Rowell gives us a good story with a cross-border investigation between Victoria and New South Wales and plenty of secret alliances. Harry is back in harness, still acting to serve and protect Zoe. Good boy!

Carolyn | 2081 comments Fall (Detective Harriet Foster, #2) by Tracy Clark Fall by Tracy Clark is a good police procedural of the murder of two Chicago City alderman. The finger is pointing strongly at an ex-alderman just released from jail, but is she guilty?

PattyMacDotComma | 813 comments It was fun to eavesdrop on two old gentlemen comparing ghost stories from their schooldays. A School Story by M.R. James took place in 1870, but it could easily be a contemporary mystery.

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Fixer Upper by Mary Kay Andrews - 3.5*.

A fun and lively story involving a young lawyer wrongfully accused of bribery, the FBI, an old inherited family house in a small town, a family secret and colorful characters.

Carolyn | 2081 comments Instead of a police procedural Lisa Regan's new Detective Josie Quinn novel is a psychological suspense placing Josie in a locked room type mystery in the mountains during a retreat for people suffering PTSD

Gayle | 111 comments I finished listening to The Secrets of Winter by Nicola Upton - 4*.

A well-written story of a Christmas gathering on an island off England's coast with author Josephine Tey attending, when 2 unrelated murders occur. A good mix of Christmas and investigation.
