I can't believe this week is almost over! Feel free to post this after you've finished.

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?

PS: I know this readathon was a little shorter than others and a little less involved, but we're a mod short and we'd rather Emily got to spend time with her baby. I hope you all had a great time and got to finish off some good books! Happy Holidays!

Sherri Harris | 1501 comments . How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read? 4 books. 1185 pages
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions? No I didn't meet my goals. I wanted to complete 5 books. I didn't finish my personal challenge. My distractions were waiting on library books to come in. That slowed me down.
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts? Yes I had fun, My favorite part was Team Moriarty.
4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon? Enjoy the View
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons? I really enjoyed this read-a-thon. This is a busy season so keeping the challenges simple helped. I liked everything the way it was.
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons? Yes. I look forward to them.

Kat | 566 comments 1. I only finished 4 this time which I think is the worst I've ever managed.
2. I met my primary goal of completing the main ATY Challenge but didn't contribute for my team as much as I would have liked. I started the week with a chest infection and sinus headache so struggled to concentrate on reading. The end of the week ended up busy with Christmas prep.
3. I always have fun with the Readathon. It's so nice to meet different people from the group and learn new things about them. and get excellent book recommendations as well.
4. The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman. Its the third in the series and my favourite so far.
5. A future December readathon might be easier if it was a week earlier. There were a lot of Christmas and end of year distractions for many. I understand why it was shorter but that extra day seems to make all the difference.
6. Absolutely, the readathons are always a delight. As always a huge thank you to our mods for coming up with fresh ideas every time and keeping us entertained.

°~Amy~° (amybooksit) 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read? 11 books/2085 pages

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions? Yes, my goal was to do all of the individual challenges for a clean-sweep of the board and I did that. Distractions; power outage and a heartbreaking family situation over the weekend (thankfully most of my reading was done by then)

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts? I had a ton of fun. My team was so enthusiastic and managed to complete the 52 prompts without using our wildcards, and continued to read a few more books after that. It was incredible! Go Team Moriarty!

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon? It had to have been my reread of A Christmas Carol, for a new to me book though it would have been The Secret History of Christmas

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons? I love the readathons as they are currently. Obviously this one was a little different without Emily but it was still great!

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons? Absolutely!

message 5: by LeahS (last edited Dec 19, 2022 07:18AM) (new)

LeahS | 1369 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I read eight books, two of which I'd already started. I make it 1763 pages.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
Yes, to complete the individual challenge. I don't think I had any major distractions.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Yes, it was a very enjoyable readathon. Loved the town plan.

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
Probably either Act of Oblivion or All the Broken Places. Of the complete books I read in the week, Bridge to Terabithia.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
Not really. I liked the fun element involved.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes, as an individual.

Elizabeth (elizabeth1234561) | 224 comments 1. I finished 8 books (7 for challenges) at 2714 pages!
2. Above and beyond. I've been in such a reading slump and this got me back in the mood.
3. I always have fun with a group challenge I love keeping track of my reading.
4. Probably Bedeviled Eggs by Laura Childs because it was an absolute whirlwind! I also really enjoyed Christmas on Reindeer Road.
5. I enjoyed this one but I prefer when there's more of a defined theme with prompts to fit but I'm sure this was beneficial to a lot of members still finishing the yearly challenge.
6. Of course! Can't wait to see what the new year brings.

message 7: by L Y N N (new)

L Y N N (book_music_lvr) | 1027 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
9 books and 2505 pages!

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
My main goal was to complete all my December buddy and book club reads and I did manage that. However, I got sick on Friday and didn't get to read much Friday-Sunday. So illness was my distraction! :(

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
ALWAYS! I didn't get to participate in much other than the team and individual readathon this time, but I look forward to next time!

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
Ugh. Always so difficult to just select one! I truly enjoyed every single book I read. The one I enjoyed the least and I gave the lowest rating was Merry Christmas, Alex Cross. I am buddy reading this series, one installment per month, else I might not have continued with it. It is not what I would typically read...

Books I can highly recommend from this past week:
Small Things Like These
Unlikely Animals
The Ever-After Bird
Snowspelled
Margery Sharp's The Rescuers series
Ann Cleeves Shetland Island and Vera Stanhope mystery series.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
You guys always do an amazing job! Thank you for all you do! So glad Emily is getting time with the newest addition to her family!

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
YES! YES! YES! :)

message 8: by Kathy (new)

Kathy E | 3324 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I finished 7 books (3 were started before) and read 1262 pages and listened to 20 hours of audio.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
Yes. I completed a short route on the individual challenge. Preparations for Christmas were my greatest "distraction."

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I had fun but it's much more fun on a team! I'll do that next time.

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
Winter and Rough Weather by D.E. Stevenson (This is the U.S. title. Also called Shoulder the Sky)

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I love the readathons.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes.

Laurel Kristick | 874 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read? 9 books & 2,566 pages
2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions? Yes, I exceeded my goal of 5-7 books
3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts? This was lots of fun! I liked working with my team to complete all of the 52 prompts + 16 additional prompts. Go Team Dracula!
4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon? A Prayer for the Crown-Shy
5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons? I like the extra day you get when it starts on Saturday and runs through the following Sunday
6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons? Definitely!

Also, congratulations to all the teams! I genuinely did not think any group would finish the whole 52 prompt challenge. Next time I'll have to come up with something EVEN HARDER

message 11: by Kendra (last edited Dec 19, 2022 09:39PM) (new)

Kendra | 2100 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
8 books & 2 305 pages.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
I final finished The Night Tiger, which let me finish Popsugar, which was my only real goal. I did want my team to finish all 52 prompts (We only had to use 1 wild card to do it) and I was hoping to do a clean sweep of the individual challenge, but then my library hold for Sweep of the Heart came in so my Christmas book got pushed to next week. And as to distractions, I ended up having a couple of Christmas parties and then last minute shopping that took up more time than I was expecting.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I had lots of fun. I really liked having the prompts just be the ATY list - I finished the list in September, but if anyone hadn't it would have given them added incentive to finish.

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
Sweep of the Heart

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I prefer having the pages read earn wild cards to fill hard prompts and I hope you keep it that way for future. But I would like to go back to having the prompts grouped to build/earn different things.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yep

message 12: by Irene (new)

Irene (irene5) | 906 comments I didn't think this readathon was less involved at all, I had so much fun! (Can you tell I love readathons lol)

1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
6 books and 2 short stories (counted only for pages); 1866 pages

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
My goal was 7 because that's what I averaged in the past, but this time I made the mistake of choosing 3 partially-read books I had started so long ago that I had to reread the parts I had already read!
My biggest distractions were being out of town for the first 4 days, but slow starts seems to be a bit of a recurring thing with me and readathons xD

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
Absolutely!! I absolutely love group challenges in general because my teammates are always so motivating/inspiring, plus the themes are always so fun. I really liked the theme of the December readathon being the ATY prompts because I haven't finished my reading challenges for the year yet and was able to complete 2 of my final 5 for ATY!

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han, which surprised me because I usually don't like the genre (YA contemporary romance) or the trope of love triangles/squares. It was just really sweet and I wish I read it as as teenager!

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
I'd love to see it return to Sat-Sun because I often don't have time to read during the week so having two weekends is usually very helpful. I also slightly prefer when team challenges don't have a defined end goal because the momentum can slow down if a team finishes the challenge a few days before the end of the readathon. I think in previous readathons I felt more motivated to read as much as I could through the end because there were always more monsters to kill, things to complete, etc.

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Definitely :D Shout out to Team Dracula because they were the best team ever - I hope to see them again in future readathons!

Thank you to the mods for putting this readathon together during such a busy time of year!

message 13: by Amy (Other Amy) (last edited Dec 20, 2022 11:50AM) (new)

Amy (Other Amy) | 703 comments 1. How many books did you finish? How many pages did you read?
I read 7 short stories and started a book of short stories, which is more my speed than full novels this season. 225 pages and 95 minutes.

2. Did you meet your reading goals? What were your biggest distractions?
Not my stated goals, but I pretty much figured that would be the case. Christmas and getting car care arranged.

3. Did you have fun? What were your favorite parts?
I absolutely did. I just enjoy having a place to check in each day and chat a bit.

4. What was your favorite book of the read-a-thon?
Tom, Thom was an absolutely enchanting short story.

5. Do you have any suggestions for how to make the read-a-thon better for next time? What would you like to see more of in future read-a-thons?
Starting on Sunday instead of Saturday really threw me, but other than that I wouldn't change a thing. I really did not think it was less involved at all. Simple is good. (Having a Readathon in December is really tough, but I don't know if people would be open to moving it to January.)

6. Do you plan to participate in future group read-a-thons?
Yes definitely. I love readathons and regular readathons are one reason I joined this group. Huge thanks to all the mods for hosting this.
