On The Same Page discussion

Every year I make a list of books I've been meaning to read and once that list is made I promptly ignore it until the last few months of the year. There's always something bright and shiny that draws my eye…and I'm off down a new, and frequently fun, rabbit hole. Yes, I admit it, I have the attention span of a gnat.

So this year I've gone back and looked for some of those books I couldn't quite squeeze in from prior years. Next there are those books that people keep raving about but I've never quite gotten around to, and, finally, some are just set in my favorite cities or countries.

Empire Falls and All the President's Men are both excellent reads, Kathleen. I have Cutting for Stone around here somewhere but haven't read it yet. And I've never read a book by Ishiguro that I didn't like. You have an excellent list!

I enjoyed World Without End, It, A Darker Shade of Magic, Roseanna and All the President's Men. I'm looking forwar to read Gaiman and The Rook. Good luck with your 2023 selections

Roseanna is a solid crime novel which I enjoyed very much. Take it slowly with The Buried Giant, it's an interesting read, but definitely a slow one. I need to get to Cutting for Stone as well, so many people have said it's excellent. Enjoy your list!

Haha, this is the story of my life too, Kathleen. It's hard to remember all of the great books that I want to read when new great books come out and distract me.

That said, I've read World Without End, 1Q84, The Ocean at the End of the Lane, It, A Darker Shade of Magic, The Kite Runner, Cutting for Stone and All the President's Men. Great choices! I enjoyed most of them, and the two that weren't for me are very highly regarded by a lot of other people, so I'm sure they are books I read wrong. I have a good feeling about this list. I hope you enjoy all the books you read! :-)

As long as you're reading, who cares if its from a dedicated list or not?? Just enjoy what you read.

What a great list, I think you will finish this list, and finish it early. I've enjoyed all the ones I've read: World Without End, 1Q84, It, The Kite Runner, Cutting for Stone, The Rook, Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin.
There are some big books on this list, but take them slow, they are all very good and I hope you will enjoy them. Happy reading.

Interesting list - I might be a rarity with IT, I was so excited to get a copy (was only about 17 mind!), but really struggled to get into it, and not sure I've ever tried again, even though it's been on my bookshelves ever since - did enjoy the film though
