I remember telling myself that years ago. Now my TBR is much larger and my house looks like an overstuffed library. lol

Maria | 4 comments This is my first year joining the challenge. :) Was in Goodreads over the summer but had no idea there was this Horror group!!! Yes!!!

About 2020, I found an amazing thrift shop with a great used book section. Enough that I can come out with 15 books routinely. I'll count what I own before 2023 as I can't remember when I got them as they're still in bags and once read, are re-donated (unless it's part of my collection, then it stays). But they are definitely starting to pile.
Progress: 5/10

1. The Neverending Story by Michael Ende (fantasy)
2. Persuasion by Jane Austen (Classic Literature)
3. The Empty Crown by Rosemary Edghill (fantasy)
4. The Darkest Evening of the Year by Dean Koontz (supernatural)
5. Martha Peake: A Novel of the Revolution by Patrick McGrath (historical fiction)

RJ Pena (rjpena) | 7 comments Holy smokes, this is exactly what I need. I literally (pa dum pum) have books shoved in my kitchen cupboards because I don't have the space. My issue is I start a series and then go down the rabbit hole with continuing the series and then branching to the authors' other series. I have to take stock of what I have, which is some non-fiction history stuff, fiction, large graphic novels, etc. I'll start with 20 and hopefully that will help whittle my backlog down (hence I named this TBR Backlog). Granted, I also have over 1K books in my TBR list on Goodreads so let's see how this goes. :)

Oh my, you do have a love of books! I think it's great.
This challenge has pushed me to read some books that have been languishing on my bookshelves for years and the great thing is I've enjoyed most of them.
I hope it helps you too. Have a great time reading all those wonderful books. :)

I think that's a very perfect book, Char. In fact we did a buddy read on it, I think last year, here on HA and it was a re-read for me, it was even better than the first time. Enjoy!

Note that I'm not even mentioning my own TBR challenge and that's all I'm going to say.

Adrienne L I just joined this challenge and set my goal at 20 out of a possible list of 34 horror books that I own. I did a lot of book shopping the past couple of months (both physical and on my kindle), so I hope the challenge will help me make sure those new purchases get put to good use. 5 down, 15 to go.

inciminci | 650 comments That's great to hear, Char :)

For this challenge I am one book behind, even though I thought I could easily do one book a month.
I am now stepping up my game and reading The Hunger and Last Days and hope to soon finish my The Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy so I can finally put a sunbstantial dent in that mount tbr.

message 81: by J (new)

J B | 23 comments Hopping into this challenge because I need to chip away at Mount TBR. Hoping to get through one each month. Starting with a book from one of my favorite author’s that’s been on my shelf for years.

DAMNED - Chuck Palahniuk

message 82: by Marie (new)

Marie | 4029 comments So far on this challenge I have read 6 out of 15. I am trying to read two or three books a month for all the challenges I entered here on HA. Sort of trying to work on one challenge at a time and read those books first which I figure reading two books at a time ought to make me go faster. lol :)

I'm behind in this challenge despite my best efforts, which admittedly haven't been all that good this year. Too many new books have distracted me and too many good books being chosen for group reads are keeping me from the books gathering dust on the shelves.
But dang... I'm having a really good time anyway!

I swore I would not buy anymore books. If I added all the (unread) books sitting on my kindle to my Goodreads TBR list, the internet might explode! But I still find myself hitting that "buy now with one click" button.

I've gotten 19/25, but considering many of them were 2022/2021 purchases, it honestly isn't whittling that pile down all that much. Add in the number of books ADDED to the TBR already, and we're well into triple digits, if not more.... LOL!

I don't even want to think about how many books I've bought this year... nope, nope, nope. Did I mention my trip to a used bookstore yesterday where I traded in two big bags of books and returned home with 10 more books to add to the piles? ...I'm kinda proud of that actually. :) heehee
