I like the idea of claiming them before and having set plan. Maybe once everyone logs a few books on April log, Veronica can make a list in thread with color card assignments?

lol happy to help. that's totally my bad. I'm glad we're in a place to plan for April!

message 453: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Definitely for April would be better to claim color cards, since they increase. We don't have as many WD4 either, so yeah we'll assign them. Maybe tomorrow or the 31st I'll make a list of what we have so far and we'll decide. But if someone is already reading a color one no problem.

Yes we still have that one. Here's the link

message 455: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments I moved my current reads to the April log tab and added the books I will start with next month, plus my book club book. I have a rough plan for the month and should be able to read probably 2-3 additional colored cards and a reverse or 2. I have some options available but will wait and see what we are still in need of after the initial claiming.

message 456: by Verónica (last edited Mar 29, 2023 06:12PM) (new)

Verónica | 417 comments I think we can assign the Red ones already.

Red 2 - Mary
Red 3 - Ashley
Red 7 - Veronica

So Reds are covered.

message 457: by Verónica (last edited Mar 29, 2023 06:24PM) (new)

Verónica | 417 comments I see some color cards that are also reverses. We only need 6 reverses this round, and we have at least 5 covered, so we will give priority to the colors.

But in the case of Mary's green, we'll use it as a reverse. My green only works for 0, and we don't have a 2 this time.

message 458: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments Reverses seem to be covered too.

message 459: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments For the other colors we have so far:

Blue 3 - Ashley
Blue 9 - Sarah S

Green 0 - Veronica
Green 7 - Sarah S
Green 9 - Veronica

Yellow 2 - Veronica
Yellow 5 - Veronica

Which means these are the ones we need to look for:

Blue 4
Blue 7
Blue 8

Green 1
Green 3
Green 7
Green 9

Yellow 7
Yellow 8

message 460: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I'll scope out some colors. My green one might work for another one once I start reading it. But I don't care if it's used for reverse or a color card.

Verónica | 417 comments I just finished my last book for the month.

Only ones pending are:

Madhouse at the end of the earth - Lucy
The Great Alone - Hannah E
The Butcher - Hannah E

Sarah (psitssarahh) | 419 comments ok I am having a brain fart and can't find the website to check cover colors. I am thinking House of Sky and Breath
should work for a blue

I just finished The Butcher! Updating the spreadsheet now :D

I know I'm pushing it close, but will definitely finish The Great Alone tonight or tomorrow afternoon. I will make sure to finish before 5pm CST tomorrow so that we have plenty of time to update the spreadsheet for the end of the month. Does that work?

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Finding books that are ACTUALLY green feels like a struggle.

message 467: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Erzberger (hanestherr) | 78 comments I did just a quick review of my TBR looking for colored covers for next month. I would like to claim blue 8. There are quite a few books on my TBR that work for it, so I can definitely cover it. I also found a book that works for blue 7. I should be able to cover that one too if no one else has a book for that card, but I don't want to claim it if someone else gets to it first.
Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah

I'm struggling to find books with green covers or yellows that work for 7 and 8. If we can just have periodic updates on what is still needed as the month goes on, I can definitely dig deeper for colored covers if we're struggling to cover them.

message 468: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I have a yellow 8 book.

message 469: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments I found one that I can read for Yellow 8. Just Last Night by Mhairi McFarlane I'll put it on the spreadsheet but won't get to it until closer to mid month. I'll continue to keep my eyes open for something that works for one of the green cards.

No problem. I will have everything else ready early tomorrow, and just be checking for your update and Lucy's.

message 472: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments So I will put Mary and Ashley for the Yellow 8, one for the card and one for the WD4. In case any of you can't follow the plan we can easily change the WD4.

message 473: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Sounds good. I'll add mine to the spreadsheet later. I think I may have found a green too. I'll have to look into it a little better and see what numbers it works for/if I'll be able to fit it in with my other reads. I don't want to overclaim and then not be able to get to them all. Time to get ready to pick my daughter up from preschool!

message 474: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments So here's the update for the color cards:

Red 2 Mary
Red 3 Ashley
Red 7 Veronica

Blue 3 Ashley
Blue 8 Hannah
Blue 9 Sarah S

Green 0 Veronica
Green 7 Sarah S
Green 9 Veronica

Yellow 2 Veronica
Yellow 5 Veronica
Yellow 8 Mary, Ashley

We still need to look for:

Blue 4
Blue 7

Green 1
Green 3
Green 9

Yellow 7

Sarah D your blue book could work for a Blue 3 assigned to Ashley, so maybe for the other WD4.

Hannah let me know if you decide to take the blue 7.

message 475: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Put me down for Green 3. I have a couple of different options that will work for it depending on mood.

Verónica | 417 comments Color cards to look for:

Blue 4
Blue 7
Green 1
Green 9
Yellow 7

message 478: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Erzberger (hanestherr) | 78 comments I can definitely commit to blue 7!
I'll add my colored books to the April Log tab. I might not finish them until more mid month, but I can definitely get them done in April :)

message 479: by Hannah (new)

It's out of my comfort zone and not something I would necessarily choose to read myself... but it's my book club book this month. Sometimes I find books I really love when I step out of my comfort zone. Other times, not so much. I'm curious about this one because it does seem like people I know mostly either love it or hate it. I'll try to remember to report back!

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments Ugh this year for me.

Back in October I had surgery on my foot. They had to replace the joints in my big toe. (2nd surgery an injury about 8 years ago) Someone stepped on my foot at the same party where my friend died With that happening I forgot all about it. My toe swelled up and I went to the foot surgeon. Turns out my toe was broken when it was stepped on and pushed the plastic joints out of place. Having surgery this Wednesday. So I'll be on the couch for a couple of weeks.

I wanted more time to sit and read or do needlework. But not this way.

So sorry to hear this, Mary. Some seasons are so much harder and darker than others. Know that you are not alone. Praying for you from afar.

Verónica | 417 comments Aaaaand we're done! 🎉 Good job everyone!

We're currently in 4th place, but we're still at the mercy of the cards randomizer gods and late updaters . Nevertheless, April's gonna be fun.

Congrats to all team members, most of you have been performing above and beyond. I fell short this month but I think April will be a lot better.

Go Pangolins 💪

message 486: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments It's true, it's mostly up the randomizer when we're finishing all our cards and mini-tasks. Or we an hope that a team ahead of us doesn't finish some of their cards and tasks.

We're doing great.

I'm so sorry Mary, I hope you are not in pain. Laying on the couch all day seems like a nice thing when you are comfortable and not without a choice, hehe.

message 489: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Oh, Mary! I'm so sorry you are dealing with yet another thing. You really seem to be unable to catch a break right now. Sending you all the love and positive vibes. I agree with Veronica, bed rest and laying around all day seem so nice unless you are forced to do it. I hope you heal quickly and are able to get in plenty of reading and needlework.
