Well, check all the ones with pixie books, in case Ashely doesn't finish the North task we can move the pixie there.

Great! Done.

Verónica | 417 comments We have 12 books pending on the mini, all committed to finish. We need 18 books to finish our hands, so that means we still need 6 books besides the mini for the main challenge. To all our teammates that don't have books for the mini, we need you 😁. All cards are easy ones.

message 205: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Erzberger (hanestherr) | 78 comments I should be able to get one more audiobook in for the main challenge. I'll add to the log tomorrow :) this challenge has definitely encouraged me to read more than I was, haha!

message 206: by LucyReads (new)

LucyReads | 15 comments Are we able to use ARCs or does it have to be published books? Just wondering as I usually have a few ARCs going on my kindle at the same time as reading hard copies, so I can log these in as well if they count :)

message 207: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I found a shorter book for Twilight if we need a backup on that one. Looks like it works for 1,2,6,8,9 just from the description.

But I'll finish my other books first.

I only have Dead Eye in ebook so it's taking me longer. I have more audio time than sit and read time. But I'm going to try and finish it this weekend. I dug out my old Kindle that has the text to speech option and charged it so I can have it read to me if necessary.

Listening to the 4th in series book today. I finished the 3rd in the series which works for: alien, spaceship, guarding/protecting if that helps with swapping some books around.

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Hi everyone! Just checking back in. Thank you all for working to get this figured out. Our son turned 18 months old yesterday and decided to mark the occasion by falling and hitting his face on the coffee table. We were at the Children's Hospital Urgent Care for 5 hours last night and didn't leave until midnight. He got a single stitch and was absolutely unbothered by all of it outside of the first 5 minutes or so immediately after the fall. He is doing well and has been in great spirits. However, I didn't get much sleep and I'm struggling with life today.

I will continue to keep you all posted on my reading as I go.

So sorry to hear about your son! That is so scary! Glad that he is doing ok. That is the age of accidents as they are exploring and gaining more motor activity and independence. Hope you get some rest today.

I think you are able to read ARCs. I think I have done so in the past. You can usually still find the books on Goodreads in anticipation of the release dates.

message 212: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (psitssarahh) | 419 comments my guess would be arcs are fine as long as they're on Goodreads?? if that makes sense

message 213: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments Ashley your son is more important and like Sarah said, you can use your books for next month.

message 214: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (psitssarahh) | 419 comments Ashley, I'm so sorry about your son!! I hope he continues to do well and that you're taking it easy on yourself

message 215: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (psitssarahh) | 419 comments ok y'all my best friend is coming in from out of town tonight. I finished my alien book and am real close to the end of my enemies book. I'm starting royalty right now. I won't have a ton of time to update past what I can tonight but I'll be sure to be on top of it Monday

message 216: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Thank you all. Fortunately my son is still his easygoing, joyful self. You'd never know anything had happened based on just his demeanor.

Now that I've had some caffeine and a bit of time to assess, I can confidently say I will finish Exiles (black letters on cover) tonight. I have about 4 hours of audio left in Island Affair (birds on cover) and will definitely finish it sometime before the month is over but it is hard to say when at the moment. Getting audiobook time has been very unpredictable for me lately.

I will start Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name (Northern in the title) tonight or tomorrow depending on when I finish Exiles. It is pretty short so I'm confident I can finish it before the month is up.

If for some reason I get a lot of audio time or just fly through Northern, I'll let you all know, but I still think realistically that will be it for me for February.

I'm looking forward to March as well. I have 2 book club reads and one of them has a blue cover. Authors last name starts with a V as well so that should help us out. I'll avoid too much talk of March yet though, so as not to confuse things.

Oh poor guy! I'm sorry, when our kids get injured is an awful thing. I hope he gets better soon. Don't worry about challenge stuff, we'll manage and hopefully you'll be in a better mood next round.

Verónica | 417 comments LucyReads wrote: "Are we able to use ARCs or does it have to be published books? Just wondering as I usually have a few ARCs going on my kindle at the same time as reading hard copies, so I can log these in as well ..."

Yes they are allowed, as long as they are listed on Goodreads. If not maybe some librarian can add it, but I'm not sure.

message 219: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments So Ashley your books listed are:

- Read a book featuring a bird (shapeshifter accepted) or with a bird on the cover
- Read a book with black letters on the cover
- Read a book with the word "NORTH" or "NORTHERN" in the text.

You say you might be able to get black letters and maybe north too, but we'll open north and also bird to the others just in case.

So, anyone has something for bird (shapeshifter accepted) and north? Or if you have something for one of the Pixie books you can take it and we'll move it.

Sorry, I haven't seen this. OK, we'll move Ace... to Fall and Lakewood to red letters, and move the pixie book to one of the pending ones from Ashley, I'll see if I can find one for the bird.

Verónica | 417 comments I haven't read "the night circus" but it seems to fit the Bird (or shapeshifter) task, can someone confirm?

*** update ***

I googled a little and I think it does fit. I put it there. So no bird task pending anymore.

I feel like maybe I confused you. I do plan to finish all 3 of these.

"Black letters" will be finished tonight.
"Birds on cover" will definitely be finished by end of month.
"Northern" I'm starting tonight or tomorrow and unless something else crazy happens (like a kid needing stitches) I will finish it this month as well.

message 223: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments Ashley, I'm glad your son is doing well. They are troupers at that age.

message 224: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I'm going to finish Dead Eye, Dragon's Hope and Jacob over the weekend. I'll check in on Monday and see if anything needs last minute covering.

I will be out of town next weekend to a trade show in Oklahoma City. I'll have internet but will probably only have my Kindle Fire and phone with me.

OK, when you finish a task let me know and I'll remove the pixie in case it has one already, so I don't lose track of what I moved. I think we can find a pixie for every task that is pending now, we can use them for last minute situations.

message 226: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments I started Let the Northern Lights Erase Your Name this morning and it seems like it will be a really quick read. I should have no problem finishing it by the end of the month.

message 227: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments For March, would this count for blue cover? Where the Forest Meets the Stars by Glendy Vanderah I thought it would definitely be at least 50% blue but TinEye is sort of confusing me.

message 228: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) | 964 comments I've finished I rättvisans blod. It doesn't work for the mini challenge, but hopefully it should help with the regular cards.

message 229: by LucyReads (new)

LucyReads | 15 comments I'm going book shopping today so I'm going to try and pick up a few novellas to fill some of the missing spots :)

These are the missing Feb cards currently:
Wild (can be 2/3/4 from same hand)
Wild (can be 3/5/6/7 from same hand)
Wild (can be 3/5/6/7 from same hand)
Wild (can be 0/2/4/9 from the same hand)
Then 3, 3, 6, skip, 1, 4, 2, 4.

Correct me if I I'm wrong?

I just updated the spreadsheet, here's what we need:
1, 1, 4, 4, skip, and 2 wilds (3,5,7,6 or 0,2,4,9).

The book I have left for the mini is only a skip, so I got that one.

message 231: by Verónica (new)

Verónica | 417 comments We are only 5 books away to finish the mini, and we need 2 more for the main challenge.

MINI pending:

- Read a book featuring a tiger (shapeshifter accepted) or with a tiger on the cover (MARY)
- Read a book with the word "HUNTER" or "PREY" in the title or series title (VERONICA).
- Read a book with the word "NORTH" or "NORTHERN" in the text (ASHLEY)
- Read a book featuring royalty (real or fictional) (SARAH D)
- Read a book shelved "Gods" (HANNAH)

Ashley, let me know if you finish the bird one, and I'll remove the pixie.

Ashley Elig | 689 comments I just finished Island Affair (Keys to Love, #1) by Priscilla Oliveras for birds on the cover.

Ok, I put it in the birds task, so we have one pixie free.

I'm thinking of leaving my hunter task book for march because it's long and use the pixie, that way I might be able to read two more shorter ones.

message 235: by Verónica (last edited Feb 26, 2023 07:15PM) (new)

Verónica | 417 comments *** UPDATE ***

I used the remaining pixie for the hunter task, I'm reading one for the main and the one I started for the mini will go to march. I'll start another short one, if someone else finishes something for the main, I'll hold my second book for march too.

Pending:

- 4 tasks of the mini.
- 2 more books for the main.

message 236: by LucyReads (last edited Feb 27, 2023 04:45AM) (new)

LucyReads | 15 comments Sorry I'm getting confused!

From the Feb Cards tab, still empty is 1, 2, 4, 4, and 2 wilds (3,5,7,6 or 0,2,4,9)?

I'll finish the Vegetarian tonight which can be a wild (3 or 7).

message 237: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I finished by books for Tiger and 4th in series. Updating the spreadsheet. Going to try and finish Jacob today if nothing else than for Uno cards.

I will probably save any longer books I have on the spreadsheet for March and look for some short books.

message 238: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Erzberger (hanestherr) | 78 comments I will definitely finish "Circe" before the end of the month for the "gods" mini challenge. I started "The Good Sister" as well that can be used in a few different ways for the main challenge. I should be able to push through that one as well if we still need it. Otherwise, I'll put all my energy into "Circe" and save "The Good Sister" for March. Any thoughts?

Circe is such an amazing book! Hope you're enjoying it as much as I did :)

message 243: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I read Circe years ago. Hannah is reading it now.

message 244: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments I added a couple of short cozies and I'll probably go ahead and listen to east/west. It's only 5 hrs and short stories so it should work for a lot of cards. It works for 0,5,3,6, 8 & Skip just from a cursory look at it.

message 245: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (psitssarahh) | 419 comments is there anything that we desperately need

message 246: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Mary C wrote: "Ashley: your book Let the Northern Lights etc.. links to To Kill a Mocking Bird."

It took me a while to understand what this meant. I don't know how that happened, but I'll fix it.

message 247: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Elig | 689 comments Well I'm not sure if the right edition is linked. I'm reading the Kindle edition if it matters. I kept copying and pasting the link and every time it kept going back to To Kill A Mockingbird... even though the link said the right title. It was so weird.

message 248: by Mary X (new)

Mary X (marymaryalwayscontrary) | 570 comments That is very weird. I only noticed it because I like to look at what everyone is reading to see if it’s of interest to me. Easy way to find books for reverse cards.

The other day I couldn’t find a book in the system by title, author or both. But it came up with the ISBN number which I had to find on Amazon

message 249: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Erzberger (hanestherr) | 78 comments Do I need to finish the Good Sister tomorrow or save it for next March? I can't tell where we're at and if we still need it or not.

message 250: by Verónica (last edited Feb 27, 2023 08:23PM) (new)

Verónica | 417 comments The same two books that are left of the mini (North and Gods) will complete the main, so once they're finished, we're done!

Everything now besides those two is for march. Check the tab for the march log and the cards tab for the colors.

Well done everyone!
