Linette | 175 comments I hope you enjoy Crawdad's as much as I did, Mary. The setting was so strong, like a character in the book, I felt like I was there.
Case Histories was good. So many interesting books - Prophecy looks good so I've added the first book to my tbr.
Good luck, hope you love them all.

Hi Linette- I have just started reading Crawdads and I am really liking it. Beautiful, vivid language. I think I am going to enjoy my list this year. I am excited to read Tony Horowitz's book since I loved Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War

message 23: by Mary (new)

Mary | 73 comments I loved The Fifth Season which led me to read another of her series, The Inheritance Trilogy. I just completed The Broken Kingdoms. I think The Fifth Season is more polished and for me, better, but I am enjoying The Inheritance Trilogy and will complete the series.

Mary | 73 comments Finished Ranger Confidential: Living, Working, And Dying In The National Parks. Park Rangers put up with a lot. Not the best written book, but definitely poignant and heartfelt. It's eye opening to see what happens behind the scenes in the parks.

Mary | 73 comments Spying on the South: Travels with Frederick Law Olmsted in a Fractured Land is amazing. I love Horwitz's work and if you are a history buff, he is a must read in my opinion. Sadly, we lost him way to soon as this was his last book.

Sounds like I'd enjoy this one, Mary. I'm adding it to my To Read list.

Hi Karol, It's fantastic. If you haven't read any of Horwitz's work, Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War is where I started. It's a great read also! You will never see Civil War reenactors the same again.

Thanks for that tip! It's interesting you would mention Civil War reenactors. We plan to see a reenactment tomorrow at the Richmond Battlefield in Kentucky. It will be our first one we see in "the south". I will definitely look for Confederates in the Attic: Dispatches from the Unfinished Civil War
