That is exactly how I describe the book.

I've got 5 or 6 King books to catch up on this year. I probably should have read The Outsider first, but spoilers don't matter to me if the book is good."

I just read 'Later', from 2021 & really liked it.

One of my top scary books. I read it when I was 16 and couldn't go in the basement for weeks afterward.

I will be picking that one up too, Christopher, but I may do it on audio, since I love Matt Godfrey's narration. Sorry to hear it's a bit disappointing so far. :(

I'm starting The Devil's in the Flaws and Other Dark Truths by David Niall Wilson by David Niall Wilson. I might be starting
Beasts of 42nd Street by Preston Fassel but if it doesn't work for me, I might start Sister, Maiden, Monster by Lucy A. Snyder .

I'm reading Billy Summers too, Theresa! :) At 30% now.
I quite like it so far though I feel slightly detached from Billy, not as invested as I would be with other King characters.

Oh what a fun coincidence! It was on my list of TBRs to get through this year, soooo ... I'm only on page 11. haha. I honestly have no opinion formed yet at all. I'm just about to go read a bit on my lunch break though. :D

I also read If It Bleeds first, I didn't know there was a connection between the two. But I still enjoyed the Outsider enough to give it 5 stars.

Theresa (mysteries.and.mayhem) (mysteriesandmayhem) | 359 comments The Outsider is what got me back to reading Stephen King again. I read it twice - with maybe one or two other books between my first and second reading. I loved it that much. Then I realized the Bill Hodges trilogy existed! So I read them all out of order, but loved them all anyway.

I think the beauty of those books is that you don't have to read them in order. I read them in order but it's apparent it doesn't matter. I think they will all be getting a reread before Holly is released.
