The Fold Only a few pages in but it seems interesting. Reading this for my Mount TBR challenge. It's been sitting on my bookshelf for far too long.

I love that book.
I have read the ebook version last year but since I ended up loving it so much I bought a print version for my library. Of course I have to re-read now and can't wait 😁 Hope you're enjoying too.

I get that completely. I often will take notes, in my notebook at home, or on here about each story as I go, because by the time I finish the collection I'll have forgotten any details about the early stories in it.

Ooh, I liked that one. I like to listen to Cline books on audio...If I remember correctly they're narrated by Ray Porter and he's on my list of top 5 narrators. I hope you enjoy it!

Char | 17459 comments It's available on Audible now! I happened to see it on there while browsing, so I snatched it up.
I just skimmed some reviews and most mention that it's a "quietly building dread" type novel, so it sounds right up my alley. Listening to the audio instead frees up a bit of room in my reading schedule.

Alexis (alyxe) | 24 comments Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates

I did this as an ARC for Poisoned Pen Press. Get this on pre-order guys. It is more thriller/suspense/psychological thriller/horror all wrapped in one. Check out my review for it. The book will make you squirm a bit. And we should do this as "Author guest reading" if we can get Ms. Coates available

Alexis (alyxe) | 24 comments The Suffering A Novel by MJ Mars

I painfully made it to chapter 3. This is an ARC for netgalley. And boy, am I suffering. Within the first 2 chapters, there are 15 characters to remember, 5 current characters, 5 characters from the late 1800s, and 5 "ghosts". Unfortunately, the author uses first names or last names for some of the characters, so it sounds more like 17 or 18 characters. I had to keep backtracking to the characters introductions just to remember who is who. I want to really shelf this one and not finish reading it. I find my head spinning just to keep up with which character is which. I don't know if I should continue through it and maybe it gets better, or if I should dump it. But I am so confused right now, and there are no backgrounds or character developments on any of the 5 current characters and the 5 1800s characters, except for two. I can't keep the characters straight. I read just the first 2 chapters three times already. Any helpful advice if I should shelf it and base my review on the first 2 chapters or continue to suffer through it

That would be a big nope from me. Big information dumps get on my nerves. There are too many other books on my TBR to waste my time reading something I'm not enjoying.

The sequel to Lovecraft Country which I absolutely loved.

Suzuki’s collection Dark Water is excellent. Also The Graveyard Apartment by Mariko Koike and The Memory Police by Yoko Ogawa.
