Ah! I've wondered for years if it was as good as the 1940s movie.

Was the movie good? I'm hoping to track it down after I finish the book.

Cal | 96 comments I'm currently rereading Coruscant Nights by Michael Reaves

This series is just as good as I remember! When reading I am reminded of his writing style in the old Batman Animated Series TV show. These books are good and have torn me away from the Matthew Corbett series I was attempting to tackle. I think all of the current Coruscant attention in Bad Batch and Mandalorian Season 3 have me even more excited about this revisisting. Looking forward to finishing this series again!

The movie has been a favorite of mine since I first saw it. It's on par with the best of '40s horror movies, like the Val Lewton horror movies, but with a higher budget that could pull in a name cast. A couple of the effects may seem creaky by today's standards, but mostly it eschews effects for acting.

Sounds perfect for me! I will see if I can find it On Demand once I've finished the book. I'm excited to finally be reading this one, I hope I'm not jacking myself up too much, know what I mean? lol

Oh, Char, he's a delight! Though, this is the first time I read a novel by him, I only ever read his short story collections and those stories are really far out. I'd say it's definitely more weird rather than straight horror literature.
Keep him in mind next time you wonder what to read next!

I enjoyed that Gaiman collection, a really nice mix of fantasy and horror in a range of tones.

Reading White Horse by Erika T. Wurth, which started a bit slow (too many other things going on to concentrate) but which has a hold on me now.

Oh will do...I think I already own a collection or two of his.

If you like him, you might like the work of Brian A. Hopkins. I believe Evenson wrote an intro for one of his collections.

Glad to hear it's good. I pre-ordered that one and still have the other books in the "Manuscripts" series to read. I want to get to them soon (along with a few hundred other books! lol)

Kenneth, I just listened to an interview with SGJ on the Colors of The Dark Podcast (S3, E25, My Heart is a Chainsaw), and it was really great. He gives some book and movie recs, too. Seems like a really cool guy.
