Nora Currie Hi team! I plan on reading The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba by Chanel Cleeton because one of Gryffindor’s main themes is bravery and the women in this book are very brave.

Nora Currie What books are you guys reading for Gryffindor?

message 8: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 490 comments I'm reading A Midsummer Night's Scream by R.L. Stine for brave characters, The End of Men by Christina Sweeney-Baird for the red cover, and still working out if/how my other current reads fit.

I don’t have one however I am a huge fan of the series and I remember that Gryffindor is known for bravery.

Brittany McCann (brittanylmccann) | 422 comments What kind of person is a Gryffindor?

Gryffindors are known for being courageous, daring, brave, fiercely loyal, intelligent, and kind.

Gryffindors are incredibly selfless and frequently go out of their way to make sacrifices for others. They are known for facing their ultimate fears in order to do what is right.

Good Gryffindor Traits
Brave
Loyal
Selfless
Strong leaders
Courageous

Bad Gryffindor Traits
Reckless
Prideful
Stubborn
Rule breakers
Hero complex

Jodi | 148 comments Wow! Thank you. I googled it and a LOT came up including colors and the animal and who was in the house etc. should be easy to make almost anything fit! I’m embarrassed to say I have not read all of the Harry Potter books. Maybe I’ll try tackle them this year!

Current Scores

Team Dumbledore
Week Gryffindor: 22

Team Voldemort
Week Gryffindor: 35

Not a bad start. Who will be in the lead after Slytherin week?

message 28: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 490 comments For easy use:

What kind of a person is a Slytherin?
Slytherins are highly complex individuals that are intelligent, ambitious, resourceful, quick-witted, and cunning. While some poor Slytherins reputations do precede them, Slytherins can actually be the most relatable of the Houses at Hogwarts.

Good Slytherin Traits
Determined
Intelligent
Problem-solvers
Loyal
Confident

Bad Slytherin Traits
Prideful
Malicious
Rule breakers
Sneaky
Manipulative

message 29: by Nora (last edited Jan 12, 2023 08:03PM) (new)

Nora Currie I’m thinking of changing my book for Slytherin week to Kingdom of the Wicked by Kerri Maniscalco because there’s a snake on the cover and a snake is an animal that is associated with Slytherin and I think it will go faster because Legends and Lattes is taking me longer because there’s so much to savor.

Brittany McCann (brittanylmccann) | 422 comments Sorry I need to post my books still. I will catch up this weekend. I have read a lot but am behind on challenge updates

message 31: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments Sorry I’ve been mia… had a work retreat and then was super busy… ready to read and relax for the rest of January… lol, maybe the rest of the year… I wish!!

message 32: by Nora (new)

Nora Currie Hi everyone, I unfortunately will not be able to finish reading Kingdom of the Wicked today since it’s only an hour and 39 minutes until midnight where I live and then the Slytherin part of the challenge will be over. I’m really sorry guys :((

message 33: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments I thought it ended on 14th which is tomorrow or today depending on your time?

message 34: by Nora (new)

Nora Currie Jodi wrote: "I thought it ended on 14th which is tomorrow or today depending on your time?"

Hi Jodi! It ended yesterday for me at midnight in my time zone. I’m from the Midwest of the United States.

message 35: by Nora (new)

Nora Currie I plan on continuing to read Legends & Lattes for Ravenclaw week and I hope to finish it in time :))

message 36: by Jodi (new)

Jodi | 148 comments That’s my bad then because I’m MST lol. To be honest… this year has been pretty chaotic, I’m struggling even knowing what day it is smh!

message 37: by Nora (new)

Nora Currie I decided that I plan on reading another book for Ravenclaw and I am going to read The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray and I have already read 27 pages.

message 38: by Nora (new)

Nora Currie It’s almost midnight in my time zone so I will not be able to finish it in time to count for Ravenclaw. However, The Personal Librarian will still work for Hufflepuff!

message 39: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi (schadenfreudian) | 490 comments I have a finish for Ravenclaw. It was read by 6pm on the 21st so when I add it later, that's why.
