Ann (annrumsey) | 16959 comments Nice month and year Dan! I'm intrigued when you find a series and read right through it like this one. You led me in a good direction with the Alice Sabo books and several others.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3500 comments Sherry invited me to a talk with Vince Flynn just as he was taking the series over. He mentioned that he pretty much would not have time to write anything else.
I was interested in how the series would change, since there is always a degree of change in an author swap, sometimes dramatic, as we briefly saw in Jesse Stone, but her a bot more subtle, with Mills not quite echoing Flynn's politics.

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments Ann, I would not recommend the Contamination series. The writing at times was painful, and I listed it as Bottom of the Barrel in my yearly list. I probably wouldn’t have finished it except that I used it as a sleep aid. Each book was relatively short, so the seven books were not that big a deal.

Ann (annrumsey) | 16959 comments Dan, well good to know. If I need a sleep aid I will know where to look.

that explains why you read 7 of them but they were listed as bottom of the barrel on your year end list. i was wondering how that happened lol

Dan in AZ | 2960 comments Sherry, even though I listed them consecutively, I actually interspersed them with my other reads for the month. One at a time was more than enough.

Jacquelyn Schingeck | 40 comments I retired this year and surpassed my goal and read 152 books for 2022. I selected a goal of 90 for 2023 assuming I will get busier with volunteering.

BarryP (barrypz) | 3500 comments I was close to you Jacquelyn with 155.

Melodie (melodieco) | 3679 comments Definitely a good year! I remember when I would read over 100 books a year. Damn COVID!! Haven't been able to concentrate on a book for very long ever since the pandemic.

That's a shame, Mel. I think you should plan on attending Bouchercon 2023 in San Diego. That could recharge your batteries!

San Diego B'con is already on our calendar for this year! Looking forward to seeing you. Ed already asked if "Boston Carol" was going!

Woo-hoo! This is the best news I've heard this year. Can't wait to see you both! Maybe we can lure Sandi and Jeff out of hiding! ;-)
