- Augustine deserves a better ending, she really was the other woman then got thrown aside because james wanted betty back. Heartbreaking.
- I’m so happy Betty never blamed August for anything that happened, like in Cardigan, the lyrics just show that she’s heartbroken, she never attacked August for “stealing” james or something like that and I’m glad.
- James blames August for everything that happened and that makes me so upset, he literally said “I was walking home on broken cobblestones just thinking of you when she pulled up like, a figment of my worst intention, she said “James get in, let’s drive” those days turned into nights, slept next to her but, I dreamt of you all summer long.” SO BASICALLY. James is saying that SHE came onto him by asking to drive, AND he tries to justify his cheating by saying “sure I cheated on you, but I was thinking about you the whole time.” he never took accountability. Just constantly blamed other things, or tried to use his age as an excuse “I’m only seventeen, i don’t know anything but i know I miss you”
Betty and August deserve better
some of mine:
- augustine doesnt deserve the hate that some (not all) ppl give her. for one... she's just a concept. not a real person. and for two- she was deceived by james into believing that they could actually be something, she was just a young girl who was hopelessly in love w a boy she desperately wanted to be hers
- i've always pictured betty as a cheerleader - blonde, perky, popular, but broken when she finds out james cheated. i've also always pictured james as some rich mysteriously charming guy, dark hair, lives in a mansion, successful family. the two of them are the 'it' couple of their school
