Thirty years ago Roberto Diaz and his partner Trini were called to investigate a strange fungus found on a part of Skylab in western Australia. The fungus is destroyed except for a small sample stored in a cold storage location in Kansas. The army closed the location and it's been turned into a self storage facility but the fungus was left behind. In the present day security guards at the storage facility, Travis aka as Teacake and Naomi, hear an alarm beeping and soon find that the fungus is not dormant. Diaz is called out of retirement to handle the situation.
There is definitely some horror parts of the book but the author also adds some humor. The plot sped along and I enjoyed the three main characters and seeing the jerks in the story get their due. This was a fun read, not something that can often be said about a horror novel.
