It was the only thing they gave her purpose in life. Helping people actually meant something to her and with a life there have been pretty much meaningless to now, and at least gave her a sense of direction to go instead of doing nothing and wasting away. As she walked down the street, her backpack thrown over one shoulder she heard a woman begging for medicine money for her sick child that was in her arms, coughing and sneezing, Kim had a knack for knowing when people were lying at least average people. Some people were much better at hiding it, this woman wasn’t lying, and even though she only had 20 bucks to her name, she stopped and handed it to her walking away as the woman thanked her. “ great so much for dinner…”
She had left the last town because of the law, apparently doing good deeds was frowned upon if you had powers, and we’re different, it would probably be the same story here, but it couldn’t be helped. What else with someone like her supposed to do with their life. ?
Ari Santos, a woman with a reputation. She was known very well though out this part of town. She was somewhat of a vigilante or an anti-hero. She didn’t like normal Heros and didn’t like villians. Just as long as you stayed off her turf, you were ok with her. She sat in the edge of one the higher buildings, looking down at the street. She watched as girl got off a bus and started walking. She frowned, new people were uncommon, and usually the were up to something.
Ari stood up and put on her gauntlets, then headed down the stairs of the building.
Ari stood up and put on her gauntlets, then headed down the stairs of the building.

Then she heard a shout, but it came from behind her, and not only was a woman being mugged. It was the woman she had just given money to the man took off, laughing, a nice glinting in his hand as he turned quickly down an alley. Eyes narrowing she darted after him.
There was a loud thud from behind Kimberly. Ari had come down, just in time to stop the mugger. She had shoved him against the wall. “Look, bastard,” she said, “I don’t know who the hell you think you are, but you’re in my city.” She pressed on his chest with one hand. “Hand the shit over before I make it so you cant breath.” Ari pressed harder. She was being a little harsh for the situation, but then again, she was the only one with authority here and she made the rules.

The mugger groaned in pain. “I-I’m sorry.” He pled offering the money he had stolen as an apology. Sweat forming on his brow.
He plucked it from his hands and threw him to the ground. “This is my city, watch it.” She said, walked back and giving the money back to the woman. She saw Kimberly standing there. “You’re knew.” She said, clenching a fist.

“Im Ari.” She said, “Ari Santos, I’m the.. boss of this place.” Ari leaned over slightly to look into Kim’s eyes. “So just be careful, right?”

Ari was a crime boss, but the people didn’t know that. She only allowed organized crime, crime that made her money. And mugging didn’t do that. Ari smiled at her. “Well, good,” Her face went kind of dark, “Cause I don’t allow any shit from anyone here,” She smiled again. “Got it?”

Ari put a hand on Kim shoulder, she had a firm grip. “It’s not safe out here, I know somewhere you can stay.” It was hard to tell if she was threatening Kim or if she was trying to protect her.

“There’s and apartment building just around the corner. You got any money, kid?” She asked, leading Kim down the street.

“Ooh, I have plenty of work.” She said. “Like I said, I’m kind of like the boss, so I can find you work easily.”

She loosened her grip. “I can’t tell you now, but if you want some good work, meet me at,” She gave an address, “At noon tomorrow.” They reached the building. “Room 232, go on up.” She said.

The next day, Ari waited outside of the address she had given. She had beat a few people on the way there and probably killed a guy. She’d get someone to take care of that later though. He gauntlet, which she was now holding in either hand, hand blood on them from the beating.

“Oh, sure, he might not be though.” She said as two men came out of the building. “Where’s it at boss?” They asked. “Just down this street, make sure there’s no mess.” She said.
She turned to Kim. “Alright, come inside, we’ll talk in there.”
She turned to Kim. “Alright, come inside, we’ll talk in there.”

“We’ve got plenty of food in here.” Ari said, leading Kim inside. “Feel free to have some.” She went into a larger kitchen area, there wasn’t actually that much food, it was probably a lot for where they were though. “Grab some and let’s go.”

She chuckled. “Of course.” She said, although if Kim ended up working, Ari would take a few dollars off of her pay. She was greedy and very money hungry. Which why she didn’t help the poor people on the streets unless they showed they had something to offer. She never handed out money, and never took money she didn’t think was rightfully hers.
She took Kim up to a small office and sat down behind a desk. “So, you want work..” She said, setting the gauntlets down by the desk.
She took Kim up to a small office and sat down behind a desk. “So, you want work..” She said, setting the gauntlets down by the desk.

This job would be much worse. “You see, I have a reputation to up hold, but I also have work that needs done. But I can’t keep my city safe and make money.” It was a disgusting way to use the word ‘safe.’ “I think you have the potential to help with that. I need you to be my assistant. I have very dirty work and I already have enough blood on my hands.” Her face grew cold. “I have a.. friend, he hasn’t been paying me what he owes.” She stared into Kim’s eyes. “I’ll give you the info, and you will kill him.” She stood. “And, now that you know this, there’s no backing out..”

Ari walked around and stood behind Kim. She put her hands on the chair and leaned down to whisper in her ear. “I’ll provide everything needed to do the job.” She said, moving her hands to Kim’s shoulders. He hands were soft, and the way she spoke was somewhat soothing. “Don’t worry about the details, just do the job and you’ll be rewarded. In more ways than one, if you want, of course.”

Ari put a hand to Kim’s face and slipped a finger between her lips, feeling the canines. “That’s how I know you can do it.” She knew about Kim’s powers somehow. She cupped Kim’s face with both hands. This woman was fucking insane. “Just do your best, it’s your first time so I don’t have high hopes.”
