Christine Crawford | 6 comments I thought it might be nice to start some threads for the different prompts so readers can share what they're reading or get ideas. I'm starting us off with the "by an author from a country or culture not your own" prompt because I just finished "Before the coffee gets cold" by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. This is a translation from a Japanese publication. It was really emotional read with a new and different take on time travel (so maybe it could count for a book that involves travel as well??).

AnnaVan | 22 comments The book I'm just about done with is The Island of Missing Trees. I'm using it for "Chapter Titles", but it could be "By an author from a country or a culture not your own" -- Shafak is Turkish-British. AND it could be a kind of "time travel" category as well....one of the main characters is a fig tree...while her "roots" are in Cyprus -- she's been propogated to London. So not "time travel" per se....but still kinda fun...she tells the story rom the 1970s in Cyprus and present day London.

I love the idea of a tree as a character!
