Karen Barber | 13282 comments I copied the spreadsheet template from when we did the challenge last time. No pressure to use it at all. (If you do decide to use the spreadsheet, please only place a book in once you've started reading it).
Once we've got everyone checked in we can start to think about how we want to tackle this.

Checking in

message 13: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments Just finished my last book of January, so having a bit of planning time for next month. I'm going to start with the GBR for Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor .

To start off with are we all okay with reading as we want and slotting books in where we can once they're finished? We can always be a bit more strategic as the month progresses.

message 14: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I'm fine with slotting books in the spreadsheet only after we've finished and are posting in the review thread. Makes it more seemless to not have to worry about "taking someone's task"....

I agree with only adding books to the spreadsheet once they've been read. makes it easier to keep track and then we aren't waiting if someone claimed a task that another could have already completed

Sharon Mariampillai | 10992 comments Hello Checking in!!

message 18: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mariampillai | 10992 comments I’m for posting after finishing read the book. It saves us time and we can accomplish more if we do it that way.

message 20: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments Now we’re about halfway through I’ve added a page to the spreadsheet to show categories that need filling.

message 21: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments On the spreadsheet description 22 is classed as done with the book 'Heated' (message 38). That's not the book posted, which was done for task 88. And (I think it was), can you check this and amend the spreadsheet when you get the chance.

Think descriptions 1 and 2 are now done.

message 22: by Sibil (new)

Sibil | 2361 comments I was double checking and there are some things that aren't adding up:
1) part 1 and 2 of the descriptions should be complete but they didn't count the book for description number 20 (and I have asked about this in the review thread so the mods should see it shortly)
2) on the spreadsheet task 22 is counted as done by Ashely, but we don't have an Ashley in the team, and the message listed (number 38) is for another book. So that task is not taken even if it's "deleted" from the spreadsheet

I haven't checked more, but I think that it should be worth double-checking more if someone has the time

message 23: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (tellingmelies) | 9747 comments Mod
I'll look at it now and see what I can make out

message 24: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (tellingmelies) | 9747 comments Mod
Ok I went through it. I removed the Ashley one - I'm not sure how that got there but she's on another team.

Also #48 is marked off on the spreadsheet by Dannii, but it doesn't look like she's posted the review for it yet.

I corrected the grid so that it shows sections 1 & 2 closed now.

Everything else looked correct to me.

message 25: by Sibil (new)

Sibil | 2361 comments Thank you Jenn!!

np! sometimes while doing scores my eyes go a little cross-eyed staring at that grid haha

message 27: by As You Wish (new)

As You Wish | 1867 comments Thanks for all the work you and the other mods do! As someone who just shows up to read I really appreciate the time you give.

message 28: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments Just started Undead Girl Gang, to try and fill the prompt with ‘dead’ in. If someone has something to post for it before I finish, please do.

message 29: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments I'm so sorry, I thought I'd be finished with no.48 last night but I just finished it up now. I'll get it reviewed and posted asap :)

message 30: by Jenn (new)

Jenn (tellingmelies) | 9747 comments Mod
No worries Dannii :)

message 31: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments I've marked off 46, 48, 51, 56, 78, and 91 as I'll be posting reviews for them all today :)

message 32: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments Hey, do any of you have any short reads that are your favourites? If so, I can try and get to one of them in the next few days, as I have a few days off work, and we can tick off that prompt :)

message 33: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments Go for it Dannii.

Descriptions 1-5 are now complete.
We have quite a few books read, but might not get full descriptions done - are the mods okay with us requesting changes as we draw to the end of the challenge? Another way to go is to prioritise missing slots to maximise points.

Does anyone have a preference/suggestion for the last week or so?

message 34: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments Maybe we could try and complete as many sections as possible going forward? Im fine eith however we do it though 😊 I have a few graphic novels I'll be flying through today and I've already put them in the spreadsheet for some of the more difficult prompts.

message 35: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mariampillai | 10992 comments I have a lot of books that fit section 11. I am almost finished 2 J books for that section.

message 36: by Sharon (last edited Feb 21, 2023 10:13PM) (new)

Sharon Mariampillai | 10992 comments Posted my book for 107. Book beginning with N in author's name, and 103. Book beginning with J in author's name.

message 37: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments Yay, Sharon! I have a bunch of reviews to post today and have two days off work so plan to read as much as possible during them :)

message 38: by Melanie (last edited Feb 22, 2023 07:38PM) (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I'm hopeful we can finish all the categories in time, although I don't think i have any I'm going to read that will work for either of these:

115. Read a book which was first published before you were born.

79. Read a book with at least 600 pages.

Anyone have one they can read?

message 39: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments I'm reading books that'll work for these and should be done with most today/tomorrow.

112. Read a book which is one of your teammates 'favourites'.
94. Read a book with an average rating of 3.0 or less.
71. Read a book which has the word 'road' as part of the title or series title.
70. Read a book which has at least 100 reviews.

I've marked in the spreadsheet, but can remove if that is an issue.

message 40: by As You Wish (new)

As You Wish | 1867 comments I marked off 106 (starts with A) and should finish it tomorrow

message 41: by As You Wish (new)

As You Wish | 1867 comments For 115 I’ll try and read a short classic I’ve been trying to get to. Says only 120 pages on Libby so it’s doable.

message 42: by Dannii (last edited Feb 23, 2023 07:10AM) (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments I can complete 67, 77, 79, 84, 87, 105, 109, 113, 114, 118, 120 today. I've read most of them and just have the reviews to write.

These are the categories we still need to fit that haven't got a book attached to them on the spreadsheet, if it helps anyone:

74. Read a book which has a building on the cover, or the word 'home' in the title or series name.

93. Read a book with the letters 'H', 'E', 'L', and 'P' anywhere in the title/series name/author name.

96. Read a book which has a settling listed on Goodreads.

98. Read a book which you really want to read before you die.

100. Read a book with a 4-letter long word anywhere in the title/series name/author name.

101. Read a book that was recommended to you.

113. Read any book.

115. Read a book which was first published before you were born.

116. Read any book to get it off your TBR.

119. Read a book which you have never read before.

message 43: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments I’m away for another day, so will check these when I get back and look at slotting books in.

message 44: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments Does anyone understand task 96? Can't tell if I'm being dull or not haha.

message 45: by Karen (new)

Karen Barber | 13282 comments 96. There just has to a named setting - there’s a section on my book The Guncle that says ‘setting’. Guess it’s for where the story takes place. I think most will have that.

message 46: by Dannii (new)

Dannii Elle (danniiellereads) | 9858 comments Aaah, that makes sense. Thank you! :)

message 47: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mariampillai | 10992 comments I can do 101, 113, and 116. I have books for those that I can finish by tomorrow.

message 48: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Mariampillai | 10992 comments Also have a book for 115 I can use:

message 49: by Sibil (new)

Sibil | 2361 comments Can you help me with description number 96? I don't get what it means!

message 50: by Melanie (new)

Melanie (lovebeingvegan) | 13891 comments Sibil wrote: "Can you help me with description number 96? I don't get what it means!"

In the book's detail section on Goodreads it lists setting. Some books have it listed - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...
Setting
London, England (, 1991), Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry (United Kingdom, 1991)
