I haven’t had much luck using keywords. Amazon’s recommendations used to be useful but they rarely help at all since they changed their algorithms a couple of years ago. They even recommend books that I already purchased from them.
On Goodreads the Browse - New Releases is sometimes helpful for authors I’ve read before but not for finding new authors. Browsing genres or lists sometimes helps. Making friends on Goodreads with people that share my taste in books helps more; I use the compare books before accepting friend requests, and so now my feed shows books those friends read.
Then of course I read all the posts and comments here in this group, which often mentions interesting space opera books. I also follow quite a few authors on Goodreads and Facebook; sometimes they mention books by other people.
Have you looked through this group’s bookshelf? I found a lot of good ones when I first joined this group.

on GR if a book i like is on a listopia, i look at the lists to find more books.
i joined this group just for the bookshelf and recommendations.
i also follow publishers on GR, like Tor, and i get their newsletters sent to my junk email address.
also years ago i started looking up the authors that put blurbs in books i liked and the publishers.
if your library has Novelist, use that for read-a-likes.
also read the top reviews for books you like. a lot of reviewers often mention or compare books to others they have read in their reviews.
