CBRetriever | 6117 comments It's probably because so many of those magazines have their own apps. I remember when Amazon removed the linking an exterior subscription so it would work on an app on their site bit.

Stephen Burridge | 507 comments I’ve had a Kindle F&SF subscription for years. It’s very cheap. It’s unlikely I’ll buy more than an occasional copy if the subscription goes away.

Raucous | 888 comments I support some of these magazines and get copies of their issues through Patreon. But, as Neil Clarke says, it's not "... the same level of convenience." It's multiple steps to get the issues into my readers. The more direct involvement with the publishers and the knowledge that they're getting a larger fraction of my payment is enough compensation for me. I suspect that's a minority viewpoint.

I don't think that he's overstating the impact.

Bnz | 70 comments I don't like this a bit.

I subscribe to half a dozen literary and SF&F mags and have a pretty huge backlog of unread issues. I hope at least those back issues stay in my library - if not, I would have to figure out how to download them all and preferably free them from DRM.

Amazon's "ecosystem", once vastly superior to the competition, is losing more and more of its edge. Apparently, selling everything but books is more lucrative...

my guess, is that like all my old expired subscriptions, the issues will stay on your account

Why? What was there that was too rich for gentle eyes of us mere readers?
