Jess (jesssunshine) | 7 comments Wow, I feel like I can't compete with newbies from Singapore and New Zealand, and I'm just freezing my behind off outside of Scranton PA . . .

However, here I am. I am a third grade teacher. I am a literature fanatic. I am a new mom to an 11 month old daughter, so I'm desperate for some grown-up conversation about books.

I will read almost anything. I try to keep a good knowledge base of YA for my students. I really enjoy modern fiction with unique prose, but I'm currently reading "To Kill a Mockingbird". I'm also trying to expand my non-fiction repertoire, and I've been enjoying the books written by comedians lately.

I'm not an aspiring writer. I love to write, but do not have aspirations beyond my own amusement. Maybe one day . . .

Excited to be part of a group of book lovers like me!

Jess, you are in my neck of the woods! I work in Pittston and live in the Poconos and totally feel your winter blues!!

Welcome to the group!

Adrianna (adriannacontreras) Hello Jess. I'm new to the group as well. It is hard to compete with exotic destinations isn't it? lol But where you are is exotic to me, so there! ;) That is a great book you are reading and the fact that you keep up with YA books for your students shows you are in tune with them. That can only make for a great teacher! Welcome and nice to meet you.
