We've all had those spammy chain letters but this one really takes the cake. It is a Chain but it's the Chain involving lives. Vulnerable lives. Children's lives. Again and again, it's showed that parents will do everything for the safety of their children until one or more realised that even as their child is safely at home, s/he is not safe in her head. The threat never goes away and there's only one thing to do but at what cost?

I've read and enjoyed author's police procedural series, Sean Duffy, but this is the first time I've tried his stand alone thriller. I think I should read more of his works! This thriller is full on suspense right from the very first word til the end. I love that the characters were basically your average mum & dad though of course, they're being pushed to their very limits when tested. My boys are safely home right now so I'm thinking that I'd probably be a coward and not be able to do as these parents had to do. Truly though, how far would you go when your child's life is on the line?
