Annursina ꨄ | 73 comments For me the books are just so toxic. A lot of ppl like them. I can’t understand, why the main girl makes always so dumb decisions. And it’s not okay to sexualise kids in books like she did. That is why I don’t buy her books. Colleen is problematic because her son raped a girl and she still doesn’t support the girl. Yeah I mean it’s her son, you don’t wanna believe that your kid does that but it’s not right when she just said the girl is lying. And her books are about stuff like that.
I’ve only read it ends with us but that was too much for me. When I read what the other books are about I was shocked and those books are in the kids section. I mean it’s not good when kids read a book where the mother kills her kids because of jealousy. That’s why I don’t like Colleen and her books. *I do own It ends with us because it was my first book and confess but it was a gift.

abygayle (jem’s wife) | 237 comments the content of her books isn’t the problem to most people it’s how she markets them. such as her domestic abuse awareness book marketed as a love triangle romance.

there was a situation with her son in which a girl tweeted or messaged colleen screenshots i believe in which colleen’s son pressured her for nude pictures. Colleen tweeted about it and said she doesn’t condone what her son did so i don’t know any updates on that. she didn’t block the girl and he didn’t every actually interact with the girl outside of social media there’s a lot of false info still spreading

mostly just the way she markets her books entirely wrong and a lot of people find the writing juvenile or “wattpad”

I'm Funny | 103 comments her books are problematic. examples:
Verity - fat shaming
It Ends With Us - makes it seem like Atlas saves Lily instead of her saving herself
November Nine - romanticed rape scene and pushes for sexual activity after the girl has refused.
only feeling pretty when a guy tells them they are. like instead of them learning to love their scar, they need the approval of a guy.
dating the guy who set fire to her house
Ugly Love - even tho it is a realistic example of how some relationships are, 99% of the time they are toxic and the guy tends to manipulate the girl. ugly love romanticed it.
it also makes it out to be that u get over the grief of your child by finding a partner u love (which isn't tru) instead of being a story of self healing
she excuses Miles behaviour bc he has "issues" even tho it was an abusive relationship.

I hoped this helped xx

Lize | 23 comments I’ve read a lot of coho books and they def aren’t the best. I always try to separate the art and the artist. But coho has done a lot of questionable things and you can def see that in the books. The main character is indeed always a bit dumb and always has to ‘be saved’ by her love interest. Her books are simple and easy to read, but there are so many better books.

Jaze Danelver (jazesedgwick) | 99 comments I agree with Abygayle here. It’s her marketing team’s fault too as to why they chose her books to be marketed to young impressionable minds with stories that are problematic. She wouldn’t face too much heat with her books if she marketed is to mature audiences.

Many of her books are loved because they are easy to read and I have to say her writing is average at best.

Jayda 🍉 | 144 comments The way Colleen markets her books is incredibly harmful and some of the content in her books is extremely problematic. Ugly love and November 9 both romanticize toxic and abusive relationships. She’s also very problematic because she was going to release and iews coloring book, even though the book is about domestic violence. The worst thing she’s done is block a girl who messaged her about her son saeing her. If you want to know why people don’t like her. Look on YouTube, you’ll find a bunch of info. I used to read her books, but I will not be picking up another book by her or recommending any of them.

You are wrong. Her son never even met the girl in person so there was nothing physical involved. Do your reserach before you spread false information. The conversation they had was through Instagram.
