Violet | 3 comments Hi!! My name is Vi (19mtf) and I've been having a hard time finding decent YA featuring a trans character? I've already read Little Fish, The Hatchling (I LOVED THIS OMG), The Errant Prince, and a few others I might remember the name of later. Any other recs? Bonus if Bi/gay rep too!! If they're super tropey just lmk in advance cause some of them have been beaten to death

Thanks Lovelies uwu

jas | 12 comments Act Cool maybe isn't the best book to read, but yeah, it features a 16yo ftm character who loves acting and is still processing trauma from his parents, who are extremely religious and don't accept him. I say it might not be the best book to rec bc of the incredibly transphobic content he faces, and the fact to goes by super fast, but overall I did like it.

Another book, this one I ABSOLUTELY adored, is Cemetery Boys. This one features Yadriel, a gay Latinex ftm boy who, throughout the whole book, is looking for a way to prove to his parents he is, in fact, a boy. What I loved about it was the very heavy Latinex family factor, which I could really relate to (or maybe I'm just biased XD). I can definitely promise you will love the romance factor in this - it was just so perfect. I won't spoil any more for you, though. ;)
Hope you enjoy them!
(Oh BTW Cemetery boys is kinda tropey - just lyk)

Juj | 16 comments You could try the Cemetary Boys by Aiden Thomas. I read this a few years ago and really liked it.
It's a fantasy YA book about a trans-Latino guy, ghost hunting, his family, and his relationship with the community around him.

NothingButBooks (fantasylover123) Hell Followed With Us by Andrew Joseph White. It's about a trans boy named Benji who escapes the religious cult who infected him w a bioweapon that will turn him into a monster. Benji is rescued by a group of LGBTQ rebels who offer him a home, and together, they have to stop Benji's cult from using him to burn the world and start anew (in the name of God). It's simultaneously sweet and terrifying (in the best ways, ofc), and has really good representation for trans people. TW: transphobia, body dysphoria, religion, gross elements

lily | 1 comments If you are looking for a romance book with a trans main character, I recommend The Passing Playbook! It’s a quick but great read! Trigger Warnings include: transphobia, bullying, ousting, religious propaganda, homophobia, misgendering. It is rated as a 13+ book! Happy reading! :)
