Christabelle (christabelleallestad) | 148 comments Hello everyone! How did February go with reading? I’m still working through two of my books, but got a few others read. Overall I think it’s been good.

My biggest read for March is Epic: An Around the World Journey Through Christian History.

I’ll reevaluate after that.

How about you?

Christabelle (christabelleallestad) | 148 comments I liked Gentle and Lowly. Are you liking Sense and Sensibility? I like my reader for that one on Audible.

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 132 comments Sounds good... I've read Gentle and Lowly and Sense and Sensibility. This month I'm reading The Cloud of Unknowing.

message 5: by Ian (new)

Ian | 92 comments I have read a lot of medium level books. I did really get challenged by Laura Gallier's series and I hope that the next is in the works.

Amber Thiessen (amber_thiessen) | 69 comments Christabelle, I really enjoyed Epic! It was a neat way to write a book and found it very interesting. I also appreciated reading Gentle and Lowly.

I'm still going through Never Cast Out: How the Gospel Puts an End to the Story of Shame and plodding along on Calvin's Institutes.

Looking forward this month to The Evangelical Imagination: How Stories, Images, and Metaphors Created a Culture in Crisis, Captive in Iran, and On the Cliffs of Foxglove Manor

Christabelle (christabelleallestad) | 148 comments Epic has been the most fun! I love travel and history and love hearing his reactions to things. I also realize that he had to choose his list, so that is also interesting.

I applaud you for sticking with Calvin’s Institutes! That takes perseverance.

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 132 comments Sounds like I'd like to find a copy of Epic. Thanks for telling me about it.

It is still too early to have a verdict on Sense and Sensibility. I am only a few chapters in, but I did love Pride and Prejudice, so it is likely I'll enjoy it.

message 10: by Ian (new)

Ian | 92 comments Amber, are you reading that for a class?
I enjoyed listening to the Librivox version but it did take a while.

Amber Thiessen (amber_thiessen) | 69 comments @Ian I'm just reading it for 'pleasure' lol. I work through a chapter from a theology text for my weekend reading. It's been about a year and a half so far.

Tam Ruiz | 1 comments I have to stop reading these posts; my Want to Read just gets longer and longer... 😂

I haven't kept up with my VT reading, actually, but my next book will be Delusion. It sounds a lot like the Piercing the Darkness series. I have other books I am reading, but I don't think they fit into the VT list.

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 132 comments I liked Sense and Sensibility --- and Pride and Prejudice.
Persuasion was okay.
Then I tried reading Mansfield Park and couldn't get through it.
I haven't tried to read Northanger Abbey.

Good for you.

Christabelle (christabelleallestad) | 148 comments Mansfield Park was my first Jane Austen book and I liked it! I related to Fanny in a way that kept my interest. (I’ve actually tried Pride and Prejudice twice and not finished it). But I’m still willing to try more of her works.

message 16: by Linda (new)

Linda Martin (lindajm) | 132 comments I want to get back to Mansfield Park one of these days. I was probably attempting too many books at one time and it just didn't work out.

message 17: by Christabelle (new)

Christabelle (christabelleallestad) | 148 comments Finished Epic and enjoyed it! Starting The Universe Next Door for “A book about worldview.”

message 18: by María (new)

María Vannia Kenght | 1 comments I have read Gentle and Lowly, excellent, in some time I think I will read it again. My March readings are 1. The Christian with the Full Armor of God, and 2. Theology of Biblical Counseling.
Sense and sensitivity hehehe I only saw the movie.🤣
